Why did Adam allow Eve to eat the forbidden fruit?

Not sure about Adam and resisting in light of mankind being mankind. God is sinless. Christ in his humanity was sinless. All other humans are not.
Like @Margery points out, neither Adam nor Eve had sin natures. The fall gave us the curse, before that life was innocent. Animals were not a threat, gardening was a joy, neither Adam nor Eve had any worries. They needed to grow in character. Had the fall not happened they would have been eligible for the fruit of the tree Life.

It’s hard to imagine mankind living w/o sinning. We’ll get a glimpse of that during the Millennium.

True. But let's flesh this out just a little. While mankind (and apparently angels) were created sinless, we were all created with the capacity to sin. Sin occurs when we choose our way rather than God's way. Even when we disobey God in the slightest, it is sin. But going our own way requires the ability to choose; and that ability was given us at the point of creation. Therefore we may have been sinless in nature in our original creation, but the capacity for sin was placed into us in the very fact that we were given free will and, thus, free choice.

I’m suggesting that had Adam and Eve not fallen they could have deepened in character, truly trusting and loving God. The fruit from the tree of Life would have confirmed them in that state. Eve giving birth would have been pain free.

Created in God’s image, walking with Him; even I have grown to love Him more and trust Him more.

When you think about how easy it is to go your own way, it is wonderful that 2/3s of angels remain unfallen.

I look forward to having angels in my circle of what will probably be billions of friends.
