SoCal: Evacuations Underway as Massive 60+ sq mile Wildfires Rage Out of Control Amidst Santa Ana Winds

Evacuations were underway as a massive wildfire raged out of control and engulfed homes in Pacific Palisades, California, on Tuesday.

According to AccuWeather, wind gusts reached up to 65 miles per hour in Southern California on Tuesday.

Shocking video of a ‘fire tornado’ was posted to X.

People panicked after they got stuck in traffic trying to flee the fire and abandoned their cars on Sunset Blvd.

The cars were being bulldozed to make room for emergency vehicles.

Hurricane-force winds whipped up fireballs that leapt from house to house in the upmarket Pacific Palisades area, incinerating a swathe of California’s most desirable real estate favored by Hollywood celebrities.

Not to be mean or mercenary, but at least they have insurance and transportation out.
Hopefully, at least some of the unsaved celebs/wealthy figure out it's better for possessions to burn here and now, than their souls to burn in Hell forever.

The scope of the destruction was just becoming clear: Block after block of California Mission Style homes and bungalows were reduced to nothing but charred remains dotted by stone fireplaces and blackened arched entryways. Ornate iron railing wrapped around the smoldering frame of one house. The apocalyptic scenes spread for miles.

This is devastating 🙏
I've never seen a fire this bad hit populated cities in Southern California
Most of our wildfires have been in brush areas like the mountains here.
Even the recent Line fire we had didn't do even half of this kind of destruction in populated areas as it mostly moved up the hill into the mountains.
This is horrific.
Lord please help 🙏

I'm like 45 minutes drive from Los Angeles.
There is a fire in the city next door, Colton. If it stays as windy as it has been, that fire may jump over to my city so I have been praying 🙏
I'm praying for you Rose.

I'm personally having problems loving others as myself while watching the fires on the news. So many of these people are the ones not just living sinfully, but flagrant in their evil. I know that there are good people there, but I look at these wealthy places on the west coast burn and I think of the homosexuality, pedophilia, the pushing of lawlessness as good, and I find myself feeling that the chickens have come home to roost, and the people who keep voting for the incompetent politicians who are only in it to line their own pockets, are just getting the just rewards for choosing the way they do. It's not that I'm happy that the place is burning down, and people are losing everything. I guess I just hope that it's a loud wake up call to those who haven't listened.

Anyway, brothers and sisters of CCF, please pray for me to have some compassion in my heart for people who are sinners, just like the rest of us, and lost, like we were before Jesus saved us. And I will pray for the protection of life, of our brothers and sisters caught in this firestorm, and that God will work this pain and suffering for His good will to save many before it's too late.

To be honest, I had the thought that as destructive as this is like hasn't been in the history of Los Angeles I thought to myself that I wonder if God is permitting this because of the rampant sin that's celebrated by the elite and celebrities that this is impacting. I mean it's mostly their property that's been destroyed. I struggle myself sometimes with not feeling sorry for people who reap what they sow when they are willfully ungodly.
I pray they repent and seek The Lord for salvation, but if they choose to shake their fists at God and indulge in sin, I think losing property is a slap on the wrist compared to what is to come under God's White Throne Judgement.
That's only the truth.

Iconic Hollywood Hills erupts in fire, prompting more evacuation orders in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — Another fast-moving brush fire erupted in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, this time in the iconic Hollywood Hills, forcing more evacuations for nervous residents as firefighters struggled to contain other destructive blazes in the area.

The Los Angeles Fire Department issued an evacuation order shortly after 6 p.m. local time Wednesday for portions of the Hollywood Hills, a celebrity-populated neighborhood in central Los Angeles. As of 8:30 p.m. local time, the blaze, dubbed the Sunset Fire, consumed at least 50 acres and remains 0% contained, according to Cal Fire.

Mandatory evacuations were issued for Laurel Canyon Boulevard on the west to Mulholland Drive on the north to 101 Freeway on the east down to Hollywood Boulevard on the south. Evacuating warnings were also issued for areas north of Sunset Boulevard between the city of Beverly Hills and the neighborhood of Hollywood.

I had this thought, as well, but my thoughts weren't as nice as yours.
I wonder how the inferno compares to the destruction in Sodom and Gomorrah.

My sins are far, far worse than everyone else's . . . I'm chiefest of sinners . . . and I really have no excuse at all since I was saved at 3, and knew/know better.

I saw a picture of Pacific Palisades last night that showed complete and utter destruction. Only the foundations left on hundreds of homes, the type where they're large homes that cover most of the lot, with little space left for yard.

It was hard to see that level of destruction. It leads me to think about the Tribulation years when hard things will be on a global scale with one thing after another hitting the world, yet hearts will remain hardened against God.

The devastation in SoCal may put some insurance companies out of business and will likely lead to rate increases across the country.

State Farm Canceled Hundreds of Pacific Palisades Homeowners’ Policies Before Devastating Wildfire Strikes

As wildfires ravage Southern California, homeowners in Pacific Palisades find themselves grappling with an unbearable reality: their homes are burning, and their insurance policies—once their safety net—were canceled just months ago by State Farm.

In a move justified by the company as a strategy to avoid “financial failure,” State Farm canceled over 72,000 homeowners’ policies statewide, with Pacific Palisades—a now-charred affluent neighborhood—bearing a significant brunt.

James Woods, a renowned actor and Pacific Palisades resident, summed up the community’s frustration on social media.

“Actually, one of the major insurance companies canceled all the policies in our neighborhood about four months ago,” he wrote.

It would be interesting to see the data that went in to state farm's decision.

Short article explaining why

California insurance crisis: Why are home insurance companies leaving California?

"State Farm, Allstate and Farmers are among the home insurance companies that are pulling back from the California home insurance market. Risks associated with climate change are creating a home insurance crisis in California, but homeowners still have options."

"Reinsurance challenges: Reinsurance is a type of insurance that insurance carriers buy to protect themselves from large losses. The challenging reinsurance market has worsened in recent years, making it harder for insurance companies to cover the risks associated with California properties and ensure adequate claims paying capacity.
Unless home insurance companies can find ways to balance costs, they will stop offering coverage.

"California is the only state in the country that does not allow insurers’ rates to be based upon their actual reinsurance costs," Rex Frazier, president of the Personal Insurance Federation of California says.

California lawmakers have moved to make changes that will require all insurance companies that do business in the state to write in high-risk areas and will allow them to pass reinsurance costs on to consumers. That will help stabilize the market but will also mean increased rates.
