Immediately before the rapture

Andy C

Well-known
I have read various comments about the minutes before being called home in the rapture. Some believe that the church will be forewarned just before the shofar sounds, that we might have a few minutes to mentally prepare. Some believe their strong feelings that the rapture is about to happen. However, is any of this biblical, can a case be made these things will happen with supporting scripture?

Biblically, I think it's hogwash. It's going to happen fast, in the twinkling of an eye, and Jesus said only the Father in heaven knows beforehand. If one of the three persons of the Godhead doesn't know because only one knows, why would we know beforehand? I think that we can be aware of the season from the signs given, but I think the only "heads up" we're going to get is when our heads and all the rest of us are up.

I have never given it much thought. Looking forward to reading what others here think on the matter. I lean to a SURPRISE!!!! with that trumpet blast going off.

I know I've joked about George's ashes currently parked here in the study, behind me as I type being my "early warning Rapture kit" saying that when his ashes start to shake rattle and roll I'm looking up.

But that is me joking a lot, and still making reference to the dead in Christ rising first. I like to do that to get people like my hair dresser off guard so I'm teaching a little about the Rapture at the same time as she's laughing and cutting my hair.

I've been praying for her salvation and witnessing to her as the Lord opens the door since 2003. So 21 years and counting. Same with my unsaved nieces and nephews, OH AUNTIE! they laugh, but they'll remember.

AND IT HAS given me some opportunities to get serious and teach on that right after that joking start. I've been able to remind them all of various important bits like only those who give their hearts to Jesus go up, along with the little children and babies.

However when I get serious, George's ashes will be transformed in that twinkling of an eye, before I have time to register that a trumpet just sounded. I'll be going up a fraction of a second afterwards.

No time to warn family further. Must dash, I'm on my way with Jesus!

At the moment that the Father tells the Son it's time to go fetch yer bride, it'll all progress quite quickly, but from that moment I expect I'll sense something wonderful. I don't expect to know that I'm about to be Raptured, but I expect, solely based on my life experience with God from the time I was saved to now, that no matter what I'm in the middle of, my thoughts will turn to God. Then poof, I'm in my new body with Jesus.

Ready or not, SURPRISE!!!!

I love that. Can you imagine, seeing Jesus face to face? Finally seeing Him with our eyes. Like Job said - referring to the final resurrection,as Martha the sister of Lazarus referenced - not the Rapture but the idea is the same. For I know that my Redeemer lives....In my flesh I shall see God, .... how my heart yearns within me!

Job 19: 25-27
For I know that my Redeemer lives,
And He shall stand at last on the earth;

26 And after my skin is destroyed, this I know,
That in my flesh I shall see God,

27 Whom I shall see for myself,
And my eyes shall behold, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!

100% , i know the moment my eyes look directly at him i'd have the same reaction as John, my whole being/spiritual body would go into shock and i would collapse being in awe in just how awesome and fearsome his Glory is

Sometimes I wonder who the last person to be saved will be. Then I also think about who the person will be who just missed being saved in time for the rapture. Like they were almost ready to accept Jesus, but just put if off to think about some more. How horrible of a feeling that will be for them.

I think the only way we get any warning is if we happen to be at a cemetery looking at a saved person's grave, and then it'll only be a split second as the dead rise first and then those still alive. We may or may not register that the trump has sounded. We may or may not register that the dead are rising.

Of course, @Margery happening to be looking at George's ashes at that moment would get the same split-second warning :)

Wonder how much noise and maybe air, barometric, earth, etc. disturbance with so many people moving all at once. AND the Holy Ghost leaving  AND satan and his demons moving in lickity split

Wonder if the graves will be opened like when Jesus was crucified, or if the glorified bodies will simply pass through coffins, vaults, dirt, markers, etc. If the former, that'll be some huge noise and earth movement, especially if one is in a cemetery full of Christians! :hyper:

  :amen: :amen: :thankyou: :thankyou:

That reminds me of when the earth quaked and the tombs split open at the Crucifixion, the righteous dead were seen in Jerusalem, for how long I don't know but it does lend credence to the idea that the earth will shake when the dead in Christ rise. I don't know that's for sure, because it was when Jesus died on the cross, not the morning of the Resurrection but maybe????

My two cents worth is the dead will rise in a flash, not able to be seen by the naked eye, or nearby street cameras. I believe it will be just like it will be for those of us alive, here one second, gone in the next nano second. Nobody will see us rising in the sky as it was with Jesus. JMHO.

I tend to agree. But I can't help hoping there's a lot of earth shattering grave splitting earthquakes! I kind of like the idea of my creation scientist uncle's grave and all my other saved loved ones graves split wide open. To emphasize the moment in time.

But I suspect the Lord will be emphasizing that moment in lots of other ways especially if all the babies and young children go with us as I think they will.

Yeah that's how i mythbusted my rapture dream, i was ascending in slow motion upwards and then that voice that always ruins dreams and makes you wake up said the rapture occurs within a blink of an eye this ain't it LOL

That's what I'm wondering, and Jesus' Resurrection and Ascension are why ever since I learned about the Rapture, I've always been extra watchful around (the real ones right after Passover) Resurrection Sunday and Ascension Sunday, and to a lesser degree, Pentecost. Guess I should also have been extra watchful on Good Friday, too

My thinking very likely wrong, as those with much more theological knowledge than I say Fall Feasts :)

I don't think we'll be given a specific sign or warning of the impending pre-trib rapture.
If there were a sign signaling that the rapture were about to happen, it would seem to me that would go against the doctrine of imminency.

I do however believe that we are given plenty of scripture warning us to live soberly, holy, righteously, always being aware of the season we're in, knowing that Jesus can return for(rapture) us at anytime. Though many will be caught off guard, we who live in constant expectation of His return for the Church have already been given all the warning we need throughout the scriptures.

Below are just a few verses (and there are many more) that give us all the warning we need of His return.
I purposefully left out the verses often used from Matthew 24, Luke 21, and Mark 13 that I believe occur during the tribulation and point specifically to the return of Jesus to physically step foot on the Mount of Olives at the end of the trib. and aren't describing the pre-tribulational rapture.

Romans 13:11-12
11And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light

1 Peter 1:13
13Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 1:10
10and to await His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead— Jesus our deliverer from the coming wrath.

Hebrews 9:27-28
27 Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28so also Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await Him

Philippians 3:20-21
20But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21who, by the power that enables Him to subject all things to Himself, will transform our lowly bodies to be like His glorious body.

1 Corinthians 1:7
Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
