It's always possible that never-Trumpers are all over that convention but will look reformed and in unity with Trump/Vance. I hope that is not true. For those never-Trumpers that are now aligned......it shouldn't have taken this assassination attempt to get aligned.

Very possible. He wasn't supposed to miss. Trump moving his head to look down saved him from a clean hit to his head.
I don't think the shooter expected to be taken out by SS. If he was being used, how sad that he ended up losing his life and possibly didn't know that would be part of the plan, to use him then kill him.

I generally dislike being in big crowds and cities, but watching some of it livestream yesterday, yeah, I kinda would like to be able to drop in for a few minutes, just to feel the energy. Too bad we don't have teleporters, and I feel like if I were to ask God for just one quick sideways rapture and back, He would just laugh at me.
Anyway.
Trying to make sense of the security lapses at the Butler rally, and the shooter being able to access that roof, being known to be there for half an hour, allowed to get off shots, it just makes no sense. So suppose it was an inside job, they left the holes open, ignored the guy crawling on the roof, how do you recruit a shooter to come do that, knowing he was going to be shot right after? I mean I guess you'd tell him he's going to be allowed to get away, but who is stupid enough to believe that? I can't believe they left holes open and this guy just happened to decide to go down there to shoot Trump and oh look, how convenient, an open roof.

Maybe he put the ladder in the back seat and the ladder was sticking out the window?
Who knows. But people are investigating this and likely looking into the shooters last steps before the shooting. If receipts are produced for the purchase of that said ladder that trace back to the shooter then the report is legitimate.

Competent sec detail would have dominated that space. I mean dominated, especially the high ground. They never arrive the day of an event to establish a perimeter. That's done weeks in advance or should be. But it's quite convenient when assassinations or attempted assassinations take place that the high ground is usually happily overlooked. We'd have never done that. Ever. I don't know anyone personally who I worked with that would have done that either. It's absurd. I know many are backseat detailing, but this is just basic stuff. The bare basic necessity stuff. I really do not think this is a hindsight issue at all.
