Mystery NJ drones are coming from Iranian mothership offshore, congressman suggests: ‘Should be shot down’

A New Jersey congressman claimed Wednesday that the mystery drones over the Garden State are from Iran, and they’re being launched by a mothership parked off the East Coast.

Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a Republican, said the drones “very possibly could be” from Iran, citing confidential sources during an appearance on Fox News Wednesday morning.

“I’m going to tell you the real deal. Iran launched a mothership that contains these drones,” Van Drew said. “It’s off the East Coast of the United States of America. They’ve launched drones.”

Can the good people of New Jersey shoot those suckers down out of the sky???? A little target practice although there are probably a million laws to prevent it. New Jersey is sort of New York's politics - Canada south so to speak so perhaps that would not work.

WATCH: Is an Iranian Mothership Launching the Mysterious, New Jersey Drone Swarm? (Updated)

Update - 2:15 p.m. Eastern:

Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh was just asked about Van Drew's comments in a press briefing and had this to say:

"There is not any truth to that. There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there is no so-called 'mothership' launching drones toward the United States."

The mystery continues.

The Congressman is correct; these drones should be shot down, and the wreckage examined to see just where they may have originated. If a foreign country is operating these unmanned aircraft, which are apparently big enough to carry explosives or weapons, then this is a serious invasion of American airspace. If Iran is indeed involved, as Congressman Van Drew indicates is possible, then we are being overflown by the world's primary state sponsor of Islamic terrorism.

Meanwhile, in Washington, the same administration that let a Chinese spy balloon conduct an unimpeded transit of the entire continental United States is still seated in the White House.

This is a developing situation.

Well, well, well... if they are the size of "cars" there is no way (in this ol' guys opinion) that we are not tracking them and/or knowing where they came from and where they are going.

Sounds like "cover" for some "operation..." What could it be? What could (our) "swarm" be searching for? Bio signatures? Chem signatures? Radiation signatures? All? None? What is on the loose in NJ?

What do you think TT?

It has to be cover, and they are just not saying.

I am in several random groups on Facebook. Group Categories of all sorts of topics ranging from “drinking raw milk”, “getting your homeschool kid into college”, “80’s nostalgia”, “insurance agent soup”….

The groups have members from all over the world. In several of my groups, anyone in New Jersey is going off topic to talk about the “SUV sized drones” they can see from their front yard.

There is no way this is made up and no way the “powers that be amongst the deep state theatre experts” don’t know what is going on.

I think it’s a joke to see newscasters questioning congressmen who say they are getting no answer either. How can people believe that our intelligence doesn’t know what it is?

What do you all think?

Carrying bio with a 30-90 day incubation period? (people, animals, insects, birds, or plants?) Something that slowly eats away concrete and/or metal?

NJ has massive agriculture, gorgeous beaches/tourist attractions, military installations, forests/parks, major phamaceutical, scientific, research, and technology centers, and transportation/utilities infrastructure. Some of the transportation/utilities critical to NYC and up-and-down eastern seaboard.

What’s Behind the New Jersey Drone Invasion? Enemy ‘Mothership’ Sending Surveillance Craft? Secret US Program From Picatinny Arsenal? Why the Secrecy?
The answer appears to be: Picatinny Arsenal, an US Army weapons research and manufacturing facility in Wharton.

“Many [locals] are suspicious Picatinny might be the source of the drones – and that the military knows exactly what they are but won’t say.”

Of course, the Picatinny Arsenal itself started complaining about the drones, which could be a way to divert attention.

This explanation seems to cover all bases, but yesterday (12) Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) scrambled the cards when he came public with the bombastic claim that the drones could be ‘Iranian technology deployed from a mothership stationed off the east coast.’

Pentagon Denies GOP Lawmaker’s Claim that Iranian ‘Mothership’ Is Launching Mysterious Drones

When asked what the Pentagon was doing “to address” the issue of drone sightings, Singh said there was “no evidence” that the drones were “coming from a foreign entity” or adversary. Singh added that the drones were not United States military drones.

“At this time, we have no evidence that these activities are coming from a foreign entity or the work of an adversary,” Singh responded. “We’re going to continue to monitor what is happening, but at no point were our installations threatened when this activity was occurring.”

Several New Jersey lawmakers, such as Republican state Sen. Jon Bramnick and Rep. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-NJ), have called for an investigation to be launched surrounding the drones that have been spotted and for the “escalating issue” to be addressed.

“The State of New Jersey should issue a limited state of emergency banning all drones until the public receives an explanation regarding these multiple sightings,” Bramnick suggested.

I take back my idea of shooting down the drones- if they are the size of an SUV or a bus as some indicate, this wouldn't be nice to bring down onto the heads of the neighbours.

But somehow they have to be dealt with.

And that would start by defining what they are in the first place.

How on earth does govt "know" they are harmless (some press releases say silly stuff like that) if they can't even give a decent explanation of why they are NOT Iranian, or UFO's or a new Uber delivery service being beta tested in the skies over New Jersey.

If as might be possible, they are a new weapons delivery service being tested by this

Then why test them over a densely populated area like New Jersey?

Even Canada could allow testing of new drones over vast wilderness areas with or without Trudeau's knowledge

I'm not saying he's too dumb to notice a flying bus over Hudson's Bay or anything but he didn't seem too upset with China last year with those balloons. And technically speaking, the US is an ally. Can't say the same for China.

I saw a report earlier today that some of the sightings are actually real, lawful, approved aircraft. Not sure what to think overall but it is concerning that drone tech exists, anyone can own a very powerful version, governments and who knows else has VERY very powerful versions, and no place is safe if a scumbag wants to get crazy and violent.

If the drones are civilian contractor property, research/development/not-yet-adopted items, university, intelligence agency, etc. property, they aren't military drones, but they could be being used by a military facility.

Banning all drones punishes kids with toy drones, and people, who use them for hunting, bird watching, farming, photography, security, real estate, oil and gas exploration and production, fire detection/fighting, law enforcement, artistic expression, etc., etc., etc. Why not ban ultralights, as well? Or just ban everything in airspace over NJ? No commercial or private flights of any kind, anywhere in NJ.

Tonight they apparently showed up over La Guardia... guess what? The planes kept landing. No shutdown of the airport, no diversion... 'nuttin.

So now we must apply logic. Who could fly over the airport in such a way? I vote for 4 entities. USA, Russia, China, and the EU or parts there of. Given that, now consider who cold quell the fears of the air traffic controllers, apparently telling them to "carry on, we will stay in our lanes and you stay in yours."

There is only two options in this ol' guys opinion: It is USA, or we are on the verge of a replay of the "War of the Worlds" movie for real.

I am going to sleep soundly tonight... at least till 4 am. haha ol' guy joke.

Well lookie here

Unexplained Reports Of Drones Flying Over New York, New Jersey And Pennsylvania—Here’s What We Know

For several weeks, citizens across New Jersey — as well as New York and Pennsylvania — have reported seeing clusters of drone-like objects flying low in the sky at night, and state officials have asked the FBI for answers as information remains scarce about the continued sightings.

In December, reports of unidentified drone sightings appeared over Staten Island, in New York, with one resident telling NBC he observed dozens of drones with lights, while another sighting occurred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Sightings have been “occurring nightly for the past two weeks beginning just after sunset and lasting well into the early morning hours” and have been “reported above critical infrastructure such as water reservoirs, electric transmission lines, rail stations, police departments and military installations,” Joseph Orlando, a police chief in Florham Park, New Jersey, said in a statement on Dec. 4; Nicole Malliotakis, R-NY, said on Dec. 10 the drones were spotted near the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.

Drones have also been spotted flying over four U.S. Air Force bases in the U.K., the New York Times reported on Nov. 27, with the Air Force saying in a statement the drones have not impacted the bases and a Defense Department official saying officials were “continuing to look into it.”

3,000. That’s how many sightings have been reported to an FBI tip line established for the drone sightings. Gov. Murphy said New Jersey saw 49 on Sunday alone, saying these sightings could have been the same drone being reported more than once.

Mysterious car-sized drones spotted in night sky above San Diego County

Similar sightings are being reported in San Diego County and in other parts of Southern California.

“There is a bunch of red lights floating in the sky," Lemon Grove resident, Colin Rambo, could be heard saying on cell phone video he recorded on November 22, 2024.

CBS 8 reached out to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, and they confirmed the drones seen in Temecula did not belong to law enforcement.

CBS 8 also reached out to Camp Pendleton about the sightings in recent weeks. "The command is aware of recent drone activity in the surrounding communities," said Staff Sgt. Kathryn Lynch Thursday. "No military unmanned aerial systems (UAS) training or activity has occurred during the time or place in question."

More to come I'm sure

I've seen drones overhead here in my city for some time, and in speaking with neighbors, some have also seen the drones.
I have taken it as possible surveillance drones being used by Law enforcement. I mean if they have cameras installed everywhere and video cams in most businesses, and even here in my apartment complex, for surveillance purposes, why wouldn't they also have drones watching us?
I'm not bothered by the drones but it would be nice if whoever is using them to just be upfront about it and not have people freaking out with wondering over what they are, and who has them up there, and why.

 If it's the aliens, they're messing with us all. I loved that bit in Independence Day where Los Angeles residents are urged NOT to try and shoot at the alien mothership hovering over the city. That is of COURSE the immediate RIGHT SENSIBLE thing to do. Shoot the little green men, make 'em think twice about stopping by to say HI! 👽🥏
