Light in a prison of darkness

Even in a prison of darkness, God is there and may be known.

Helen Keller was born deaf and blind. Not only could she not see those around her, she could not even hear them. A teacher by the name of Miss Sullivan taught her sign language in the palm of her hand, so she could feel the words. When she was 9 years old she was sent off to live at the Perkin's Institute for the Blind. Helen had never learned about God because her parents could not communicate with her. While she was attending the school, a minister came and explained in sign language about God by signing in the palm of her hand. She signed back to him, "I always knew He was there, I just didn't know His name."

A little blind, deaf child knew that God exists, even in what she called her "prison of darkness." How can those, who can see and hear, doubt? There is only one answer-- willful blindness and deafness. Praise God that by the power of His love He penetrated the darkness around us with the light of His Son, Jesus Christ! Thank you, Lord, for all that You have done for us, and for all that You continue to do for us on a daily basis.
