Betty's "Thoughts from my heart"

November 15, 2025

Happy Saturday,

“Promise #319:
I will comfort you with My everlasting encouragement.

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (WEB)

16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, 17 comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.

The NIV Bible says 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 this way... 16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

God is our eternal encourager. He never stops pouring out His love on us and encouraging us. I love the dictionary.com definition of encouragement:...to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence.

God is our friend, our brother, our Father, and the lover of our soul. He has no self-interest but is wholeheartedly for us in every way. In Hebrews 12:1-2, the writer says that we should keep running the unique race that the Father has set out for us while fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. The race referred to in this passage of Scripture is the kind of race run within the walls of ancient stadiums with stands packed full of people!”

Yesterday, I cried most of the day. A combination of missing my husband and dementia. Yet throughout the day I felt comfort from God. God loves us. He cares about us and He is concerned when we suffer.

There is no need to be ashamed of having a bad day. Take our concerns to God and ask Him to help us.

Maranatha,

Betty

Happy Monday,

A Gentleman I have admired for almost nine years, yesterday, expressed his dislike for born-again Christians. I actually thought he was a Christian. His comment pierced my heart. It was not because it hurt my feelings. I am 73 and have been saved since I was seven. I am secure in my faith.

It breaks my heart knowing this man is headed for hell. Unless there is a major change, he is headed for hell. There are so many people who are so secure in their rejection of God that they are proud of their decision.

The closer we get to the return of God, the more people become proud of their rejection of God. We cannot convince people to accept Jesus. We must keep praying for God to open their eyes to God’s truth.

Maranatha,

Betty

PROMISE #323 - WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 19, 2025
11/19/2025
“Promise #323:
I will be your safe place in difficult times.

Nahum 1:7 (WEB)
Yahweh is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble;
and he knows those who take refuge in him.

The NIV Bible says Nahum 1:7 this way...
The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. Ecclesiastes says there is a season for all things, so there is no escaping the fact that we will all have difficult times. Jesus reminded us in John 16:33 that though we will have trouble in this world, we can take heart because He has overcome the world.

In today's promise, we are reminded that because the Lord is good and cares for those who trust in Him, He will be our refuge in times of trouble. He will be our stronghold, safe place, and haven of rest amid the storm. No matter what comes our way, we can trust in this promise to sustain us.

So today, I pray that we would all be comforted by this promise and choose to live in the secret place of the Most High (Psalm 91) so that He might be our refuge in times of trouble.”

Just because we are children of God does not mean we will not struggle, have health issues, and even tragedies in our lives. Yet God has promised to walk with us through the valleys of life. In our darkest hours God is with us.

God also uses others to encourage. We should be open to the leading of God to be there for others who are going through their own struggle. Sometimes just a gentle hug can make a difference in someone’s day. We do not have to have the answers, just let others know that we love them and that we care about them.

As we get closer to the end of grace, the devil is working over time, trying to bring doubts and fears into our lives. We can encourage ourselves by reading the promises of God. Let us not lose hope this close to the end. Jesus is coming soon.

Betty

Happy Saturday,

His Grace Is Sufficient

With dementia, there are days when you feel like your nerves are irritated. It is hard to calm yourself, but I remind myself that God is with me. Everyone goes through problems but when we are a chid of God, we know the He is with us. We can find comfort by drawing close to Him and sharing with God how we are feeling.

Let us not allow the devil to discourage us but trust God to see us through all things.

Maranatha,

Betty

Blessed Sunday,

Promise #334:
"Every word of every promise that I have made will come to pass.

1 Kings 8:56 (WEB)
“Blessed be Yahweh, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.

God is not a man who should lie. Every promise that He has made will come to pass because He is faithful to do all He has said He will do. In a world of broken promises and disappointing authority figures, it is easy to become cynical and mistrusting. Our negative life experiences with people can cause us to mistrust God in the same way.

In today's promise, we are reminded that God keeps all of His promises. Sometimes, we may need help understanding His ways, but He is always faithful to His Word. Trust is a massive part of the foundation of our faith. If we struggle to trust Him, we will struggle to believe what He says is true.

——————————-

My prayer today is that God will restore childlike trust to each of our hearts in increasing measure so we will have every confidence that every promise our Heavenly Father makes will come to pass!

It is important that we come to God with child-like faith. God is our Heavenly Father. He is not our enemy. He is our friend.

We place our hope in the Creator of all things. We do not need to be good enough but to trust Him in everything. The more we trust God, the more our faith grows.

Maranatha,

Betty
