Betty's "Thoughts from my heart"

Happy Thursday,

When We Are Overwhelmed

“Promise #313:
I am your light and your salvation, the strength of your life.

Psalm 27:1 (WEB)
Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?”

There are times that we feel overwhelmed. We may be dealing with health issues while taking care of a loved one with physical needs. We may be suffering the loss of a loved one. We may even feel abandoned.

Yet, in the midst of our suffering, we can remind ourselves that God is with us. Many times God uses fellow Christians to encourage us. The kindness of others can give us that boost we need to keep trusting in God and to continue on in our work for the glory of God.

As we continue in our walk with God let us pray for others who also are walking in dark times. May God help us be a light of encouragement to others.

Pray for Israel.

Maranatha,

Betty
Amen.🙏

Happy Monday,

Pain

He leads me beside quiet waters.
Psalm 23:2

There are many of us who suffer from daily pain. Most of the time we grin and bear it. Yet there are times when we find ourselves running on empty. We need God to lead us beside some quiet waters. We need to be refreshed. We need Him to fill us.

God loves us and He wants to meet our needs. Even when God chooses not to heal us on this earth, He gives us the strength to bear our health and mental issues. Even in the midst of pain, we can praise His Name.

Betty

Worship Our God

Daily Prayer for July 10
CHRISTOPH FRIEDRICH BLUMHARDT
“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Psalm 95:6–7, NIV
Lord our God, strengthen in us all that comes from you and is eternal, all that is good and right and genuine. Let this shape our outward life and help us triumph over need and death. Help us to wait quietly, even when we don't know the answers to our questions, because we are certain that the outcome will be good and life-giving, to the glory of your Spirit and your name. We entrust ourselves to your hands. Stay with us, that we may receive your calling for our lives. Stay with us, so that in all our work and activity we may be aware of your guiding Spirit at work in our hearts. “Amen

The best thing we can do when waiting for an answer to our prayers, is to praise and worship our God. We do not need give suggestions to God. We need to trust His plans and His ways.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Saturday,

He Writes His Law on our Hearts

“Promise #193:
I have put My law within you and have written it on your heart.

Jeremiah 31:33 (WEB)
But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel
after those days, says Yahweh:
I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it;
and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:”

God’s promises are not just for the Old Testament. How many times are we tempted to sin and God brings His law to our minds? God loves and He does not want us to sin.

God wants us to live righteously. When we do so not only do we please our Heavenly Father but we stay put of trouble.

Happy Tuesday,

The Fire of Personal Worship

To have a good relationship with God we need to be in worship every day. Personal worship should not be only when we have needs. Private worship between us and God will produce spiritual growth.

Let us keep communication between God and ourselves a daily practice. Praying for the lost, the sick, and other Christians that are struggling. When we neglect private prayer we will grow cold spiritually. Seeking God with all our hearts.
Maranatha,
Betty

Isaiah 55:6-7
New King James Version
6
Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
7
Let the [a]wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.

Happy Thursday,

Daily Prayer for July 17
CHRISTOPH FRIEDRICH BLUMHARDT
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn. Isaiah 61:1–2, NIV
Lord our God, light of humankind in Jesus Christ, full of joy and trust we ask that we may have access to your almighty power, your power against all darkness, sin, death, and bondage. May we feel close to your almighty power. Hear our weeping, for we are and remain your children, to whom you have promised redemption and deliverance. Together we hold fast to this promise and stand before you saying, "We are your children in Jesus Christ the Savior, whom you have sent to us." Hear your children. Bless us each one, and bless us as one people, allowed to serve you in the misery of our world. “Amen

May our prayer today be that we will be accepting to God’s will. May our hearts be open to hear His voice. God help us to be willing to set aside our desires for the will of our Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father help those in pain, comfort those who have suffered loss, and encourage those who are discouraged. Life can be hard and trials and problems can overwhelm us. Yet if we seek your face, you will give us peace and strengthen us.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Tuesday,

Cry Out To God

“When we draw close to God, He hears our requests and answers according to His grace. He invites us to cry out to Him day or night.”

We can get so busy and so stressed that our prayer life suffers. The more we pray, the stronger spiritually we will be. The less we pray the weaker spiritually we become.

It is dangerous to neglect prayer. It can cause us to lose our way. To become tangled up in sin. Praying is talking to God and sharing our hearts with God.

Work on keeping a strong and faithful prayer life.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Friday,

Hope-filled Sheep
By Lesli van Milligen — Friday, July 25, 2025

Scripture Reading — Luke 24:33-35

“It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.”
Luke 24:34
Buoyed by a renewed understanding of Jesus’ mission and their calling to tell others, all of the disciples found renewed hope. They shared stories among themselves of other encounters with the risen Lord, and their joy and confidence grew. Hope was the very thing these sheep needed, and Jesus provided it in abundance (see also vv. 36-43.

In this day and age, we like the disciples, need hope. God wants to give us hope. All we need to do is ask for it. Encourage ourselves by reminding ourselves of the many answered prayers in our past.

Do not spend too much time rehashing past problems. Instead, remind ourselves of wonderous love God has for us and the many blessings that He brings into our lives.
Maranatha,
Betty
