Betty's "Thoughts from my heart"

Daily Prayer for May 17
CHRISTOPH FRIEDRICH BLUMHARDT
“Let us, then, hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we have a great High Priest who has gone into the very presence of God - Jesus, the Son of God. Our High Priest is not one who cannot feel sympathy for our weaknesses. On the contrary, we have a High Priest who was tempted in every way that we are, but did not sin. Hebrews 4:14-15, TEV
Dear Father in heaven, we look to Jesus Christ, who is at your right hand, through whom you have promised help for the whole world. Unite us with him so that we may receive authority to help all people according to your will. May your name be kept holy among us, for your children have every reason to rejoice in the Savior you have given them. We thank you for everything you have shown to those who believe in you. We pray to you, hasten the time when your day shall come with glory, the day when you will give the glory to Jesus Christ, when he will reign and triumph over all evil and bring the peace you have always wanted to give the world. We wait and long for this. “Amen

Jesus chose to leave the glories of Heaven and to leave His glorified body, behind, to live in a corruptible body made of flesh. A body that knew hunger, thirst and pain.

He made this sacrifice to bring redemption to mankind. Yet millions choose self-pride over salvation. God does not send people to hell. They choose hell rather than admit that they are a sinner in need of redemption.

They will not know the cost of self-pride until eternity. What a waste!
Come to Jesus, while there is still time.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Wednesday,

I Am A Light

Scripture Reading — Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the light of the world. . . . Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16

We cannot be a light unless we allow Jesus to shine through us. If we are not connected to God we cannot allow God’s light to shine through us.
When we become discouraged and disheartened our light dims.

We must stay connected to God through prayer and studying God’s Word. This not only builds us up but we can be an encourager to those around us.
We want to do this because we love God.

Let us pray that others can see Jesus in us by the way we live our lives and react to the circumstances around us.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Saturday,

Faith

“Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).

We are more like the “show me” generation. Show me a miracle and I will believe, but would we really believe? Would there be those who try to analyze the miracle? If we saw someone raised from the dead, would we doubt that he was dead?

Truth is the majority of people do not want to believe in a Sovereign God. People would rather believe that scientists will come up with a magic pill that cures everything than trust in our Creator.

Why does everyone not get healed? If we are a Christian when we die, we are immediately healed. There is no suffering in Heaven. While we all want our loved ones healed on earth, God sees the future. We do not. God is in a position to make the very best decisions.

Our job as God’s children is to trust God in all circumstances.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Let us seek to please God in everything we do.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Memorial Day,

Be careful of What Words Leave Our Mouths

Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

I pray that God gives comfort and grace to every family who has lost a family member in war.

Today let us think about the careless words that come out of our mouths. Words that hurt others. Words that are close to curse words. Words that put others down.

Psalm 19:14
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.

May God help us to be an encourager and not discourager. Let us lift up our brothers and sisters and not kick them when they are down.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things

Paul tells us to meditate on words of virtue. Meditate on the Words of God. It is easy to be flippant and even crude. Yet, when we keep our hearts to God we will find it much easier to have our words be pure and just.

Philippians 2:5
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

The more we seek to please God, the more our words will please God. We were not put on the world to entertain others with questionable jokes and crude sayings. We are to be God’s light shining God’s love to everyone.
Maranatha,
Betty

Revelation 22:20
I Am Coming Quickly
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

Daily Prayer for May 30
CHRISTOPH FRIEDRICH BLUMHARDT
#Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. Psalm 103:1–3, NIV
Lord our God, O Holy One, we thank you that we may lay aside our own nature and be lifted in spirit above all that is temporal and human and have joy in you. In spite of all the evil surrounding us, in spite of the thousandfold misery of humankind, we may still rejoice in you, in all you do and will yet do for us. Grant that we may go on rejoicing, having joy together, helping instead of burdening each other, until this earth is filled with the jubilation of those you have so richly blest. Forgive us all our sins. Heal us in mind and body. Deliver us from all the corruption that tries to take hold of our souls. “Amen

Our minds can be attacked by the devil. He puts a bad thought in our brain. What do we do? We repent immediately and begin to praise God. The devil is not going to hang around when we are singing our praise to our Heavenly Father.

instead of us getting discouraged we will be uplifted by God when we honor Him with our praises. Remind ourselves the devil is a liar while God is truth. We can trust God in all situations.

Do not allow the devil to get the upper hand, but totally trust In God. Fear not! God is indeed in control.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Tuesday,

No Work Done for God Is Too Small

1 Chronicles 4:23
New King James Version
23 These were the potters and those who dwell at Netaim and Gederah; there they dwelt with the king for his work.

Every job done for the glory of God is important. God does not measure us by the job but by our attitude. Are we cheerful workers? Are we just working out of duty? Do we work because we are trying to buy our way into Heaven?

We cannot earn our way into Heaven. We enter Heaven by the grace and forgiveness from God. If we love God, we will seek to work for the Kingdom of God out of our love for our Heavenly Father.

Do not compare yourself to others. The Church has many needs. From the janitor to the Pastor. Every job is important. Pray that God uses us for His glory.
Maranatha,
Betty

Promise #160:
I have removed your sins from you as far as the east is from the west.

Psalm 103:12 (WEB)
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

The devil likes us to remind us of our past sins we need to remember to remind him, that God has forgiven us. What has been forgiven, we no longer stress?

Daily Prayer for June 11
CHRISTOPH FRIEDRICH BLUMHARDT
“Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:5, 7, NIV
Lord our God, we turn our hearts and minds to you. Be with us and grant us your Spirit. May your Word be a blessing for us. We thank you that this Word is given us in Jesus Christ, our Savior. Almighty God, stretch out your hand over the whole world. Let your Spirit bring a new age, an age of truth, righteousness, and love, an age of peace that comes from you. O Lord God, we are your children, and as your children we pray to you in the name of Jesus Christ. You will hear us, and we look forward with joy to the time when all promises will be fulfilled, the time spoken about by the prophets, and especially by your Son, Jesus Christ. Be with us and gather us in your Spirit. “Amen

God hears our prayers. He is concerned about us and our needs. He is our Heavenly Father. In Him we can find the answers to our needs and the questions that we have.

Pray for others and praise God, every day.
Maranatha,
Betty

Let Us Not Be Critical of Others

It is easy to be critical of others. This is not the behavior God wants His children to participate it. He wants us to look at others through the eyes of compassion.

We do not know what others have been through nor not what they are going through at the moment. We must pray for one another. Encourage one another and seek to show them the love of God.

Love others just as God loved so much that He chose to die for our salvation and redemption.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Thursday,

“Promise #170:
I will give you a garment of praise in exchange for your spirit of heaviness.

Isaiah 61:3 (WEB)
to appoint to those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that He may be glorified.”

There are times that we mourn. Sometimes it is the loss of a loved one. There are also times when the devil brings our past to our minds. We mourn our sins. It is okay to mourn at the time of our sins and we repent. There is no need to mourn what has been forgiven.

One day we will be with Jesus and we will be clothed in our glorified bodies and we will never mourn again. We can rejoice now, knowing our sins are forgiven. We can rejoice knowing we will spend eternity in the presence of our Heavenly Father. Glorify the Lord with me!
Maranatha,

Daily Prayer for June 24
CHRISTOPH FRIEDRICH BLUMHARDT
“I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven. As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid look to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he shows us his mercy. Psalm 123:1–2, NIV
Lord our God, we lift our hearts to you, our help in every need. You do so much for us even in difficult times, letting us always see your light and giving us your help in the many things you want us to bear in your strength, O Almighty God. In the end you will help our age come to your light. Through your great mercy let us receive your Word. Bless it within our hearts, and help us to serve you everywhere we go and in everything we are allowed to do. Amen”

God the Help of Those Who Seek Him
A Song of Ascents.
121
I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
2
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
3
He will not allow your foot to be moved;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
4
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5
The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
6
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
7
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil;
 He shall preserve your soul.
8
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Who should we call on when we are distressed? We call on our Heavenly Father, the Creator of all things. In Him only can we find peace and joy. Though the storm surrounds us; though fear overwhelms us; we can count on our Heavenly Father to see us through to the other side.

Fear not my friends, for God will never forsake nor abandon us.
Maranatha,
Betty

Happy Wednesday,

“Promise #176:
My name is a strong tower that you can run to and find safety.

Proverbs 18:10 (WEB)
The name of Yahweh is a strong tower:
the righteous run to him, and are safe.

The name of our Lord and God is a strong tower, a mighty fortress we can run to at any time, day or night, and find safety. Psalm 91 describes this strong tower as 'the secret place of the Most High.' It is a place where we can stay for our entire lives, dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty”

There is no one we can run to in the midst of a storm like our Heavenly Father. He alone can calm the storms. He alone can calm the seas. He alone can calms the spirit of an agitated heart.

Fear can overwhelm us. Fear can turn into despair. Yet, when we run to God, He runs to us with open arms.
Maranatha,
Betty
