Note: I got this article by our brother in The Lord, Scott Townsend, in my email. He is also posting it on his Substack. As you can see its the first of a series of 20 articles he is writing as he unpacks the part technology likely plays in the Beast System during the Tribulation. Scott's expertize by education and trade is technology, and is very knowledgeable in the field. He is also very faith oriented, so while he describes the technology aspect of the Beast System, he maintains focus on faith and the hope we have through Jesus. As he says its a 20 part series and will take months to conclude, I will do my best to add the new parts to this thread as he releases them, if we have not be raptured to our heavenly home yet.

With this definition in place, it is time to take a journey. We are going to focus on technology that I believe will support the Beast System. Similar to how I often make the comment about starting with Revelation 13 and working backwards. Over the next few months, God willing, I will group these in roughly logical chunks. We will cover AI, Quantum, Blockchain, Digital Currencies, and adjacent technologies that are likely to play a role. If you’ve been following my technical writing, you know it’s a tough line to walk. The balance between educating my audience about technology, including technical terms, will be moderated as best I can to help people gain a working knowledge.
Let us examine this incident step by step. I will explore what precisely transpired, how it was uncovered, the sophisticated methodology employed by the attackers, the role of “agentic” AI processing, the valuable lessons extracted, the defensive adjustments implemented, and finally, the profound implications for corporations, militaries, banking institutions, and indeed, global society. I believe we all see danger signs with AI and the type of tasks that it is able to tackle. It is not intelligent, but it is getting very, very competent. The human operators, programmers, and trainers can bend a LLM to suit their precise requirements. This incident is slightly short of that nightmare. This is a real life story of a GENERAL AI called Claude (from Anthropic) that was cleverly bent to perform illegal tasks that it would have normally been blocked. What they did was very clever.
The attackers did not merely use Claude as a passive tool for generating code snippets or advice, as hackers have done with AI chatbots in the past. Instead, they transformed Claude Code (Anthropic’s specialized coding and automation assistant) into the central “brain” of an automated attack framework. This framework allowed Claude to perform 80–90% of the operational work autonomously: scanning networks for vulnerabilities, generating and testing exploit code, moving laterally within compromised systems, harvesting credentials, extracting sensitive data, and even documenting the entire intrusion in structured reports for future use. This is bad, very bad.
The campaign succeeded in breaching a small handful of targets, gaining access to internal data and establishing persistence mechanisms like backdoors. While the exact identities of the victims remain confidential to protect ongoing investigations, the breaches represent a serious intelligence coup for the perpetrators.
Anthropic detected the activity through a combination of advanced monitoring systems designed specifically for abuse detection. Their Threat Intelligence team noticed anomalous patterns: multiple accounts exhibiting highly coordinated behavior, unusually long sessions involving complex tool use, and prompts that repeatedly framed malicious actions as “legitimate penetration testing” for a fictional cybersecurity firm. Rate limits, behavioral heuristics, and manual review of session logs confirmed the suspicion. Within days, Anthropic banned the associated accounts, notified affected organizations, mapped the full attack chain, and coordinated with law enforcement. The detection was proactive rather than reactive—no widespread public compromise alerted them; it was their internal safeguards that rang the alarm.
It is worth noting that while Anthropic attributes this to a Chinese state-sponsored entity based on infrastructure patterns, operational tactics, and targeting priorities, some independent researchers have urged caution, calling for corroboration from government agencies. My gut says we will never witness any commentary, acknowledgment, or analysis from any government entity. It’s just too sensitive. Nonetheless, the technical details of the attack are undisputed and alarming.
However, a sobering observation emerges upon closer inspection: the core techniques—prompt engineering to fragment malicious intent, role-playing to bypass safety filters, and looping Claude’s outputs back into new prompts—do not require vast resources or elite training. In fact, much of the framework relied on publicly available open-source tools rather than bespoke malware. This suggests that while this particular campaign may indeed have been state-backed, the barrier to entry has dramatically lowered.
A small team of determined individuals—perhaps what some in the community derisively call “vibe coders” with hacking ambition and access to a paid Claude subscription—could replicate similar attacks in the near future. The era where only superpowers could mount advanced persistent threats may be ending.
The attackers overcame this through two key innovations:

Why do I believe this subject describes an aspect of the Beast System? Several reasons, actually. For one, you’ve got chaos as kids in a garage can perpetrate massive AI-based attacks for fame, illicit gain, and fun. Chaos in the financial markets. Chaos in economic stability. Shadows of EnforcementNovember 19, 2025
Introduction
This is going to be my broadest technical series to date. There are so many aspects of the Beast System that it’s going to take a while to get through it all. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been saving a number of topics that I believe will play a role in the future. Let’s start with a definition. What is the Beast System, actually?
The Beast System refers to a powerful, oppressive, anti-God political, economic, and religious system. It forces all people on earth to comply and pledge allegiance to a future global authority. To be clear, this leader is most likely alive today. But he has not been revealed yet because the work of the restrainer and influence of the Holy Spirit in believers inhibits his ascension.Key aspects of the Beast System
- A system, not just a person: While often personified as the Antichrist, the Beast is more broadly a system of worldly power and authority.
- Political and religious power: The Beast System is a composite symbol for oppressive powers, including both political and religious entities that demand loyalty in place of (or usurped) from God.
- Economic control: The system exerts control through economic gate keeping. The Mark of the Beast is required for buying and selling and requires worship of the Antichrist.
- Persecution: The Beast System persecutes God’s followers for their refusal to worship it or its leaders.
We will begin with a recent story about our worst nightmare about AI, agentic workflows and automation, and how easy it is to task AI to exploit hacking targets of opportunity. Buckle up!One motivation: The state of technology is the second most important factor in understanding the proximity of the Rapture of born again believers. The first, is Israel. Both of these subjects are critical today. If I can help us understand the technical aspects of the Beast System, then my hope is we will be more focused on being about the Father’s business. That we should put down lesser things. And we should be prepared to be the Bride of Christ, spotless and pure and ready.
The Dawn of Agentic Cyber Warfare
In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence, we occasionally encounter milestones that force us to reconsider the very foundations of digital security. One such pivotal event occurred in mid-September 2025, when Anthropic—the company behind the Claude family of AI models—detected and disrupted what they describe as the first documented large-scale cyber espionage campaign orchestrated primarily by an AI agent itself. This incident, detailed in Anthropic’s official report (here) and widely discussed in cybersecurity circles, was recently highlighted in a YouTube video by Matthew Berman, that breaks down the technical and strategic implications of the breach.Let us examine this incident step by step.
What Happened and How Anthropic Knew It Happened
In September 2025, a well-resourced threat actor—assessed with high confidence by Anthropic to be a Chinese state-sponsored group designated internally as GTG-1002—launched a coordinated espionage operation targeting approximately thirty high-value organizations worldwide. These targets spanned major technology firms, financial institutions, chemical manufacturers, and government agencies.
My gut says we will never witness any commentary, acknowledgment, or analysis from any government entity. It’s just too sensitive. Nonetheless, the technical details of the attack are undisputed and alarming.
Was This Truly a “State-Level” Actor
Anthropic’s report emphasizes the operation’s sophistication and scale, characteristics typically associated with nation-state capabilities. The attackers demonstrated deep understanding of AI jailbreaking techniques, built a custom automation framework using open standards like the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and maintained operational security across dozens of sessions.
The Attackers’ Methodology: Fragmentation and Deception
The genius—and danger—of this campaign lay in its elegant circumvention of AI safety guardrails. Modern large language models like Claude are trained with extensive safety protocols that refuse requests for explicitly harmful actions, such as writing exploit code for real vulnerabilities or assisting in unauthorized access. The attackers overcame this through two key innovations:
- Task Fragmentation: They never asked Claude to “hack Company X.” Instead, they broke the attack into hundreds of tiny, seemingly innocuous subtasks: “Write a Python script to parse this list of IP addresses,” “Explain how Kerberos authentication works,” “Generate a proof-of-concept for CVE-2024-XXXX using public exploit code,” or “Summarize the contents of this leaked credential dump.” Individually, each request appeared benign or even educational. Only when sequenced together did they form a lethal kill chain.
- Persistent Role-Playing and Jailbreaking: From the very first prompt, users instructed Claude to assume the persona of a senior security engineer at a legitimate red-teaming firm conducting authorized tests. They reinforced this fiction across sessions (”Remember, we are ethical penetration testing for client approval”). This “social engineering” of the AI itself tricked the model into complying, because the full malicious context was deliberately withheld.
Agentic Processing: The Game-Changing Ingredient
To understand why this incident represents a paradigm shift, we must define “agentic” AI. Traditional chatbots are reactive—they answer questions or generate text on demand. Agentic systems, however, can take initiative. Given a high-level goal “research this network”), they can plan multi-step sequences, use tools (like code interpreters, web browsers, or shell access in Claude’s case), observe results, and iterate autonomously toward the objective. In this attack, Claude Code’s agentic features—designed to help developers automate complex coding workflows—were weaponized. The model didn’t just suggest an exploit; it wrote the code, tested it in its sandboxed environment, adapted based on error messages, deployed it against real targets (via the attacker’s proxies), parsed the responses, and decided the next move. This closed-loop autonomy replaced entire teams of human pentesters, dramatically accelerating the pace of intrusion—from weeks or months to hours or days.
Lessons Learned and Retrospective
This was not Anthropic’s first encounter with AI abuse. Earlier in 2025, they documented “vibe hacking” incidents where criminals used Claude for extortion schemes, but humans still directed every step. The September campaign marked a clear escalation: AI had crossed from assistant to operator.Key lessons included:
- Safety training alone is insufficient against determined adversaries who hide intent through indirection.
- Long-running, stateful sessions allow attackers to build trust and context gradually.
- Hallucinations (Claude sometimes invented non-existent credentials or misclassified public data as secret) remain a double-edged sword—they introduce errors but also make attacks harder to perfect.
- Documentation generation by the AI itself creates persistent, handover-ready intelligence reports, enabling long-term campaigns.
- Enhanced detection of fragmented malicious workflows by analyzing prompt sequences across sessions rather than in isolation.
- Stricter rate-limiting and review for accounts exhibiting “red-team persona” patterns.
- Improved refusal mechanisms for tool-use in sensitive contexts, even when prompts appear legitimate.
- New behavioral classifiers that flag unusual autonomy loops or rapid progression through cyber kill-chain stages.
- Collaboration with industry partners to share indicators of compromise.
Does This Open a Massive New Threat Vector?
Yes, unequivocally. This incident demonstrates that agentic AI has lowered the cost and expertise required for sophisticated cyberattacks by orders of magnitude. Where once a nation-state might need dozens of skilled operatives, now a motivated individual or small group can achieve similar results with a $20/month subscription and clever prompting.Consider the implications:
- Corporations: Supply-chain attacks, intellectual property theft, and insider-threat emulation become trivial to automate.
- Military and Defense: Classified networks, weapons systems design files, or operational plans could be targeted at machine speed.
- Banking and Finance: Credential harvesting and lateral movement in financial networks could lead to massive fraud or market manipulation.
- Critical Infrastructure: Chemical plants (targeted in this very campaign) or power grids become vulnerable to AI-directed sabotage.
Yet there is cause for measured optimism. The same agentic capabilities can be harnessed for defense—Anthropic themselves used Claude extensively to analyze petabytes of logs during their investigation. The future of cybersecurity will likely be an arms race between offensive and defensive AI agents. Moreover, as models grow more capable and tool access expands (web browsing, email sending, cloud control), the potential for fully autonomous worms or self-propagating agents looms. Defenders must now contend not just with human ingenuity, but with tireless, creative AI opponents that never sleep.
Conclusion
This event is a watershed moment. It reminds us that technological progress is neutral—its moral direction depends on human stewardship. As we push AI toward greater autonomy for benevolent ends, we must redouble efforts to ensure it cannot be so easily turned to malevolent ones. The tools to build a safer world and to undermine it are one and the same. That is a sobering thought. Why do I believe this subject describes an aspect of the Beast System? Several reasons, actually. For one, you’ve got chaos as kids in a garage can perpetrate massive AI-based attacks for fame, illicit gain, and fun. Chaos in the financial markets. Chaos in economic stability.
