Why Jesus Christ?

I have never been a follower of John MacArthur because of his Calvinism which I believe to be biblically wrong. But, that said, if you got Dr MacArthur away from TULIP and focused him on Jesus Christ alone, you had a great proclaimer of the gospel. This was clear in his book on Isaiah, The Promise Of The Messiah. And never have I seen that fact more evident than in this short interview with Ben Shapiro. Ben Shapiro is the poster boy for modern Judaism. What happened when the two of them met? This. And it is well worth the 16 minutes it takes to view it. I highly recommend you do. I believe it will better equip you to share the gospel.

I've watched a bunch of Dr. MacArthur YT videos and greatly enjoyed virtually all of them. When he isn't on the predestination vs free-will topic he is incredibly engaging and rich to learn from. But, I have a hard time recommending him in general to someone that I know or suspect is a babe in Christ and would possibly not understand to turn it off or learn from his errors in this area, if such a video was something they viewed.

I don't know whether this has been brought up before on the numerous threads of calvinism but are these people truly saved if they believe you can lose your salvation as my understanding that belief in Christ's sacrifice was a once and for all deal to redeem us ?

I think the requisite for salvation is to believe completely in the Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for you being fully sufficient to wash away your sins so that you can be reconciled to God. I do not believe that fearing you could lose your salvation has a bearing on it. Many people who are saved worry that they may have offended God. But they are still saved: what they lose is their peace with God ... until they receive proper teaching.

(In any case, Calvinists believe that if you're chosen by God you cannot lose your salvation since you played no part in being given it.)
