Two US Navy pilots shot down over Red Sea in apparent 'friendly fire' incident:

Well-known
Two U.S. Navy pilots were shot down Sunday over the Red Sea in what appeared to be "friendly fire", the U.S. military said.

The pilots were found alive after they ejected from their aircraft, with one suffering minor injuries.

The incident demonstrates the pervasive dangers in the Red Sea corridor amid ongoing attacks on shipping by the Iranian-backed Houthis, even as U.S. and European military coalitions patrol the area.

The U.S. military had conducted airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Houthi rebels at the time, but U.S. Central Command did not elaborate on what their mission was.

The military said the aircraft shot down was a two-seat F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet assigned to the "Red Rippers" of Strike Fighter Squadron 11 out of Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.

The F/A-18 shot down had just flown off the deck of the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, according to Central Command. On Dec. 15, Central Command said the Truman had entered the Mideast, but did not specify that the carrier and its battle group were in the Red Sea.

"The guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18," Central Command said in a statement.

A win for the houthis and an embarrassment for the USA. Aircraft carrier battle groups need to be able to operate in environments over a hundred times more complex than what they're facing with the Houthis.

If this was an operator error they need to send that person home. DEI hire, maybe?

We Almost Had Another Friendly Fire Incident

It happened again and on the same night. There was a friendly fire incident in the Red Sea, where an F-18 fighter jet was shot down. Both pilots were able to eject and were recovered safely, which is the most important part of the story. Yet, apparently, there was another incident where a missile narrowly missed another fighter jet coming in for a landing on the USS Harry Truman. US Naval forces are conducting operations against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Two jets could’ve been hit by friendly fire. What is going on? Yet, while it’s great that no fatalities were reported, this is an incident you’d expect under Joe Biden’s military, which has been degraded and left to atrophy because we didn’t have a real president for four years.

Saw these stories, and it boggles my mind how it could happen not knowing anything about military operations beyond movies or documentaries. You wanna say it's an error somehow when such errors should not have a way to exist, but is there any chance someone could have done it on purpose? There are a lot of warped people out there. Wasn't too long ago someone wrecked a ship in New Zealand I think. Did they ever figure out what exactly happened with the Francis Key bridge incident?

Maybe Dei hires?
