Trump slams UK over plans to 'give away' key US military base Diego Garcia island to Mauritius

Washington DC: US President Donald Trump slammed the United Kingdom over its plans of giving away Diego Garcia island, and called it an act of "great stupidity". He said that the action by London is one of the several reasons why Greenland has to be "acquired".
He made the remarks on Tuesday in a post on Truth Social.

The US President said, "Shockingly, our "brilliant" NATO Ally, the United Kingdom, is currently planning to give away the Island of Diego Garcia, the site of a vital U.S. Military Base, to Mauritius, and to do so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER. There is no doubt that China and Russia have noticed this act of total weakness. These are International Powers who only recognize STRENGTH, which is why the United States of America, under my leadership, is now, after only one year, respected like never before. The UK giving away extremely important land is an act of GREAT STUPIDITY, and is another in a very long line of National Security reasons why Greenland has to be acquired. Denmark and its European Allies have to DO THE RIGHT THING. Thank you for your attention to this matter."

Well I think Britain actually DOES have a reason, to do this, but it's not one that Trump will like or even acknowledge.

Britain doesn't do things for no reason, especially something this delicate.

Let's examine WHY they might do this rather inflammatory act, giving away Diego Garcia at this point in time, making the US answer to Mauritius (which shouldn't be too hard). The legalities were ironed out back in Oct of 25. And the US base is still legally allowed under the new owners.

Rose hits on it when she mentions NATO but it also has to do with the movement of Britain under Starmer, towards the Islamic world, away from Israel.

Because this is Britain distancing itself from a cooperative alliance with the USA in which they allow the US free access to Diego Garcia, a very important base for the Middle East. And that fits with the more Muslim nature of British politics and their increasing antisemitism and posture away from Israel. Mauritius is not Islamic, they are mostly Hindu btw. This means that the US deals directly with Mauritius, and takes Britain out of the loop when it comes to attacks on Iran for example.

And

It is ALSO Britain sending a message that they are not happy with the US stance on Greenland right now. Greenland is still part of Denmark, and as such a member of NATO. This is Britain signalling the NATO alliance IS in jeopardy if the US continues to push to annex Greenland.

This is not just about Greenland alone. Another NATO partner has been threatened, with annexation as the "cherished" 51st State. Canada stands with Greenland, and the EU.

But Canada is ALSO part of another key alliance, the British Commonwealth and we are connected to Britain and vice versa. That connection is deeper and more binding than the friendship with the States. The King (Crown) of England, is ALSO the King of Canada. That part was never broken.

Legally and technically the Crown owns all govt land in Canada. ALL of it. The KIng of England OWNS, and has title to the Crown lands of Canada. That is everything. Water, land, mineral resources, timber, wildlife, parks, every thing! Trump wants our water- he has to go thru the King and declare war on Britain to get it.

Britain has a stake in both those situations. Greenland and Canada. Both belong to NATO, and Canada is Commonwealth as well as part of the 5 Eyes - another strategic parnership which ties the US, Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand together in information sharing for common benefit.

They are trying to send a clear message, not one of war, but one of warning.

I doubt Washington is listening to that subtext in the message, but it is rather clear.

It is an escalation in the response to Trump's repeated declarations to annex Greenland, and Canada.

It is also an unfortunate consequence of the way Trump treated other nations with the tariffs. Both happened last spring. Actions do have consequences, and this is part of that larger ongoing breaking up of the old world order (formerly called the New World Order) and economic geopolitical system that has been in place since the end of WW2.

I think it is the way things are breaking apart at the seams all around the world as we see the chess pieces moving on the board towards the End Game.
