Bear in mind that this "report" is by
The Guardian a deeply entrenched British tabloid with a definite left-wing, pro- Dem, anti-MAGA, anti-Trump editorial policy. It purposely colors the language of its stories in an attempt to stir people up against President Trump, painting himas an out of control, lawless, would-be dictator. Even the picture they use in the article is chosen to make Trump appear arrogant and imperious. They are, simply put, a propaganda rag.
Anyway, in the article they write:
"The sweeping order amends the federal voter registration form to require proof of citizenship in order to vote. It demands documentary proof for citizenship such as a passport to be eligible to vote in federal elections, empowers federal agencies to cut funding to states deemed non-compliant and instructs the Department of Justice to prosecute what the White House paints as 'election crimes'. The measure also seeks to block states from accepting mail-in ballots after election day, regardless of when they are mailed in."
And these things are bad? I don't think so. If I had been allowed to vote in the last federal election I would have voted for this. These measures are exactly what is necessary to prevent corruption of the federal election processes and ensure the integrity of America's elections. The only reason for opposing them would be to continue the enabling of dishonest election practices which, quite frankly, have been growing in America for at least 30 years, but have dramatically increased in the past 15. Good for President Trump. Now Congress needs to make his executive order into law.
