I was thinking about this earlier and it dawned on me that the assassin died and stepped off into eternity......and didn't even know if his attempt was successful......even though that pales in comparison to being accountable in eternity. I wasn't there, so don't know specifically.

However, if one knows how to use shadow, light, building features, proper movement, etc., one can be extremely close or in someone's line of sight and be essentially invisible.

In a VIP protection situation, what USSS, LE, etc. are doing and who they're communicating with is deliberately hidden from public view/knowledge, etc. for the protectee's safety. Until someone on the security team actually sees the threat, nothing can be done. It may be that muzzle flash visible against a shadow or object was the tell-tale that was needed before the threat could be seen and neutralized. FWIW, in urban areas, the sound of shots fired echos off of all sorts of hard surfaces, so whatever gunfire was heard may or may not have been a lot of help.

I watched footage from Australian news who were covering the shooting. I cannot remember if it was Sky News or the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.They showed footage of a secret service sniper stationed on the roof of a building adjacent to the podium. As Trump began to speak, this secret service sniper was watching carefully in the general direction that the bad guy fired from. But the second the first shots began, he immediately sighted the bad guy, aimed and began firing at him, even before Trump grabbed his ear and dropped to the ground. I'm guessing that of the eight shots fired in total, the bad guy only got off maybe four before being shot by the security sniper.

I've watched/listened to many foreign newscasts/stations to find out what's going on in the U.S. or whatever country I was stationed in or whatever country posed the current threat.

SkyNews was a favorite when I was in Germany because it was the only English-language broadcast other than Armed Forces TV/Radio.
Until the genocide in Rwanda started and we could hear the calls for help all over shortwave bands. Shame on the US for not helping until 2 million people were dead

Tass/Pravda were favorite sources of many during the Cold War, and a great opportunity to exercise/develop language skills.

The gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump Saturday was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, sources told The Post.
Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pa., squeezed off shots — one of which grazed Trump in the ear — at an outdoor rally in Butler, just outside Pittsburgh.
Sources said Crooks was planted on the roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away from the stage at Butler Farm Show grounds.

According to state voter status records, Crooks was a registered Republican.

The liberal democratic left now acts so 'appalled' by the assassination attempt on Trump. They say this should never happen in America. Biden now calls Trump...Donald. Because he is so caring...not.

The only thing the Democrats are sad about is that the shooter missed. And they are too much hypocrite to admit it.

They demonize Trump and his followers as evil to the extent that his followers fear wearing a MAGA red hat in public. The FBI has been walking hand in hand with Democrats since Trump got into office, to destroy him.

Does anyone really believe we are going to hear the truth of what is behind this? Does anyone really believe the FBI is looking for the 'motive'? We already know the motive. The left wants Trump dead. They will do anything to stop him from getting elected, including assassination.

I read where the shooter was a 'member of the Republican party'. How handy that is. Make sure you're a member of the Republican Party first before you take a shot. That way Democrats can wash their hands...and call Trump, Donald. So silly.

And since the shooter is dead, the story is whatever they can make up about it. I can't wait to listen to the Sunday morning political shows. The left will probably be in 'tears' over such a tragedy in this country. And they have fueled this fire all along.

Just because this has occurred is not going to unite the country. The liberal left Democrats still hate Trump. The division still remains and has gotten wider.

My understanding is that in PA and other places you can't vote in primaries unless you're registered with that party, and democrats would register to vote against people.

Just because one is registered as a republican does not mean they share conservative values.
