Quote of the Day

Whoever drinks beer, he is quick to sleep; whoever sleeps long, does not sin; whoever does not sin, enters Heaven! Thus, let us drink beer! 🍺
Martin Luther

(Lutheran Monks in Germany and elsewhere historically brewed beer ("Monk Beer"), and some Lutheran monasteries still do)

This is from DL Moody's audio book (free) titled the Ten Commandments. He tells of an anonymous list of the Commandments that is paraphrased, from the mid 1800s

The First Commandment is: You shall have no other gods before Me.

The paraphrase: Love to God admits no other god.

Billy Graham HQ? Me too! Wish I was a little closer but we’re about an hour away in NC. Do you mean there?

No.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association was headquartered in Minneapolis until 2003.

Rev. Billy Graham's Rise Began in Minnesota

Whoops! Slipped my aging brain!

The only reason I know is because I grew up here.

University of Northwestern in Saint Paul is still running, and I listen to the radio station he/they started every day (Faith Radio).
Billy Graham preached the first sermon on Faith Radio (before I was born)

I didn't listen to this station growing up. I don't know what Mom and Dad would have said if I had found it and tried to listen, since Baptist. They were extremely restrictive on what we could listen to . . . classical music, sacred (organ/choir) music, news/some talk radio (it was clean back then), and sports (Twins and Packers) When I was a teen, I heard Lutheran Vespers on late at night after a Twins game (same station) and listened without Parents finding out  That probably would have been OK, though.

“Men are so simple and so much inclined to obey immediate needs that a deceiver will never lack victims for his deceptions.” - Niccolo Machiavelli

Say what you will, Machiavelli knew human beings.

"Truly this was the Son of God."
Centurion and Soldiers, who crucified Jesus and witnessed what occurred before and when He died.

54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
Matthew 27:54, KJV

In this life our days are numbered and every good day is welcomed and we want to hold on to that.
Job 14:5
Our days are ever changing. Those difficult days we contend with can feel so long, and while other days are seemingly better, more often than not we find yet another surprising difficult challenge to contend with.

But because we have a Hope of a coming glory that is eternal, and unchangeable, this is our motivation to continue to run our difficult and challenging race to the finish, because this Hope is guaranteed by The God of Mercies Who is Trustworthy and He Who has Promised is Faithful.

Let's Run this race together!
We All receive the same prize....
Out eternal glory in our Salvation through our faith in Jesus

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all."
2 Corinthians 4:17

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."
Hebrews 10:23

"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 3:13-14
