Ohio prosecutor warns robbers should 'expect to be shot'

The below story is a prime example as to why every American who owns a gun needs to fully understand when deadly force can be applied. Many law abiding citizens have been convicted in the same scenario as below. You would think the below would be justified, but I know of no state that allows you to use deadly force once the suspect has left the premises and is fleeing. You have to know BEFORE pulling the trigger when it can be used. We dont have to like the law, or feel it's unjust, but you will be held liable when you violate it.

From the article:

“An Ohio county prosecutor warned thieves they should "expect to be shot" when targeting retail stores after indicting a smoke shop manager charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a teenager during an attempted robbery in the Cincinnati area earlier this year.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers filed charges on Tuesday against Tony Thacker, manager of VIP Smoke Shop in Delhi Township, for the Oct. 20 shooting, according to a news release from the prosecutor's office. A grand jury indicted him on eight counts, including five felonious assault charges, tampering with evidence and two counts of having weapons under disability as he was not permitted to possess a firearm due to a felony juvenile adjudication.”
