This is getting news now, but both parties have been doing this for a long time, and seldom really works.

And New Hampshire is a perfect example.

I still can't believe that non-Republicans --not just Independents but Democrats!-- were allowed to vote in a Republican primary!

When one votes in NH primary, the first thing they do is make sure you're registered. IF you are registered as independent, you can get a Rep or Dem ballot but have to claim one side or the other. Then one your way out you can change you affiliation back to independent. I think that's how it works anyway.
