Netanyahu Heads to D.C.: ‘Now Is the Time to Expand the Circle of Peace’

Before boarding his flight to Washington, DC, on Sunday for a meeting with President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel stands at a historic turning point — ready to “expand the circle of peace far beyond what we could have imagined.”

On the tarmac at Ben Gurion Airport, Netanyahu described the trip as both strategic and symbolic, aimed at solidifying Israel’s recent battlefield victories and accelerating a new diplomatic momentum. “We have already transformed the Middle East beyond recognition, and we now have a chance to bring a great future to the state of Israel, the people of Israel and the entire Middle East,” he said.

Turning to the Gaza front, Netanyahu acknowledged Israel’s substantial progress but underscored that the mission remains incomplete, with 205 of 255 hostages freed — 144 alive, 30 fallen, and 20 still held — and expressed his determination to bring every one of them home.

Netanyahu made clear that Israel will not accept any ceasefire or hostage agreement that allows Hamas to retain control in Gaza. He emphasized that the security of Israeli citizens demands a complete break from the pattern of violence that has plagued the region — no more kidnappings, no more executions, no more invasions.

He said the only acceptable outcome is the total removal of Hamas’s ability to operate, both militarily and politically. Gaza, he stressed, must no longer be a launching pad for terror. “Hamas will not be there.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to arrive in Washington, DC, early Monday morning for meetings with President Donald Trump that could prove to be fateful for Israel, the Middle East, and indeed the world.

The meeting will be the third between the two leaders since Trump’s second term began, and the first since Israel and the United States jointly defeated Iran in the 12 Day War. Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran on June 12, and eliminated most of Israel’s senior military leaders, nuclear scientists, and air defenses. Israel also targeted and damaged many Iranian nuclear sites, and attacked Iran’s ballistic missile launchers. Iran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel, killing dozens of civilians, but Israelis remained resilient.

The U.S. entered the war on June 22, when B-2 stealth bombers dropped half a dozen 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s buried Fordow nuclear site, and hit two other nuclear sites with Tomahawk missiles.

President Trump then insisted on a ceasefire. A defeated Iranian regime claimed victory, but Israel and the U.S. had won in dominant fashion, weakening Iran’s ability to threaten its neighbors, including Arab states.

Wounded Soldiers’ Group To Israeli Prime Minister: Pursue Gaza War Until ‘Absolute Victory’

The Wounded Warriors Forum, a group of IDF soldiers injured post-Oct. 7, 2023, posted an open letter to social media on Sunday addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of his trip to Washington, D.C., urging him to continue the war against the terror group Hamas until “absolute victory.”

“As soldiers injured in the war, we turn to you, Mr. Prime Minister, on the eve of your trip to the United States: Absolute victory in Gaza is not an option—it’s a necessity,” the group posted on Facebook.

In the letter, the group said its members marched through tunnels, saved friends under fire, and searched for hostages in complicated operations, in which they were “wounded in body and spirit.”

“We paid a price for the state and the country: And therefore we say, we were wounded in order to win,” the letter stated.

The group leveled criticism at the way the war has been conducted, with the IDF abandoning positions only to return to them later “at a great cost in blood.”

I watched a 5 minute livestream of the dinner meeting, with press questions before the dinner began, and everyone looked happy and relaxed, not adversarial.

Huckabee was there, he said a few words from the far end. Witkoff was closer to Trump but he appeared respectful and polite towards Netanyahu which hasn't always been the case. Trump was warm and welcoming and Netanyahu didn't appear strained.

Seems to be going VERY well indeed!
