I noticed that Kirk Cameron, who described himself as ‘the Left Behind guy’, seemed to be sending out signals of cultural optimism. The famous dictum from a radio preacher that ‘you don’t polish the brass on a sinking ship’ didn’t seem to jibe with Cameron’s message of hope as presented in his Revive Us theatrical events. So in a recent interview I asked him if he had left behind Left Behind.

His answer: “I don’t see anything in the Scriptures saying that defeat was inevitable.” Wow. That’s big. In my spiritual experience, when you join up, you get your Four Spiritual Laws, your ‘Sinners Prayer’ and then your prophecy secret decoder ring. And in no version of that prophecy story is defeat for the Church anything but inevitable: Anti-Christ, 666, computer chips in the hand (or the forehead for amputees), global government, mushroom clouds over Israel, the end. If all that is inevitable then what would be the point of trying to ‘disciple the nations’? The nations are doomed to be the disciples of a blood-thirsty global tyrant. As Kirk put it, this version of the story gives Christians pretty much one job, “Get my kids and neighbors into the life boat and rescue them from the sinking ship.”

In contrast to this truncated version of the Gospel, Cameron maintains that it is the job of the Church, “…to push back darkness and stop corruption and disciple nations with the power that raised Him from the dead in a kingdom which wins; it doesn’t lose. Greater is He who is within us than he that is in the world.” In other words, go ahead and polish the brass. Swab the decks, scrape the hull, stoke the coal, grab the wheel and full-steam ahead. This ship is going forward, not down.

This is a 2017 article so it appears he has been on the slippery slope for some time?

I didn't realize who he was. So he's an actor not a preacher! I thought in the threads we've discussed him that he was some preacher who'd gone over to the NAR and Dominionism.

Not sure if that means fewer will listen to his theological fiasco or more will. Probably more.


Well hopefully his conscience and the Holy Spirit will be working on him, but I wish people wouldn't look up to actors of all people. They get paid to lie! With few exceptions their moral compass is off and the lines between truth and lies is blurred.

Even ones that act in Christian movies like this one did. I suppose that is why he's a big name in Christian circles?

I never even read the Left Behind novels till a few years ago when Amazon had a kindle bundle sale on them. George and I enjoyed them. I watched one or two Left Behind movies on TV after that. Can't say they were that good.

The problem with this is that his popularity and having a platform, as well as guesting in other known platforms, imposes an influence on those who listen to him, and from there the word of mouth spreads the false doctrine that hinders the unsaved from coming to the accurate knowledge of scripture, and misleading theology can also taint the gospel of salvation causing people to believe in a false Jesus who taught on the very things Kirk has turned away from, a Jesus they have conformed to their own desires.
It doesnt take a preacher to spread unsound doctrine that leads people to the wide road of destruction, Eternal torment that Kirk doesnt believe in anymore.
He needs to repent and stop turning to false doctrine and spreading those lies, because he is leading people down the wrong path and will be held accountable for every lost soul he has influenced

From what I gather and from the last articles I posted above about Kirk's dominionism stance
Im not convinced he ever had the truth.
His having an acting role on the Left Behind series doesnt mean he was a believer.
He obviously has had a religious background but his thinking from his 2017 interview with Forbes is plainly NAR beliefs, to establish the kingdom for Jesus to return.
So his change of mind on what hell is shouldn't be surprising as well as his not believing in a Pre Millennial view with a Pre Tribulation Rapture just falls in line with his long views on Kingdom Now that is held by the NAR.
I still say he needs prayer and anyone who has been misled needs prayer to seek the true Jesus and receive the truth that will set them free and be saved
