Jan Markell Stepping Back from Media Outreach Ministry

I received this letter from Olive Tree today:

If you haven't already heard, there have been some changes at Olive Tree Ministries. After 25 years of faithful and cutting-edge ministry on the radio, I (Jan Markell) have decided to step back fro our media outreach and radio broadcasting. Pastor Josh Schwartz and Ken Mikle will step in and co-host Understanding the Times Radio moving forward. The radio program will now be half an hour long and will be available on the same stations and at the same times. Josh and Ken will continue to provide you with a biblical worldview and perspective in these challenging times, featuring great guests and insightful commentary.

I remember in 2014 when I invited Jan to speak at a Rapture conference that she had to decline because her health just was not good enough to attend. I know she has been fighting some long-term health issues; perhaps they have necessitated her decision to step back.

I did hear that in her broadcast and looked up when she was born. She is just several months younger than I am so I completely understand that it may have just become too much for her. She will certainly be missed but I expect we will all get to meet her before too much more time goes by.

I remember hearing her talk quite a few years ago about how God called her into this ministry, and she explained how difficult it was with the health stuff she endures. She's walked by faith all these years and remains a trusted voice. I am sad but not surprised. I thought that was what she was preparing for when Ken Mikle and Josh Schwarz were seen more often in her place. I hope she's like Dr David Reagan- who handed over the reins but still shows up at conferences.
