Trump asks advisers if US bombs can destroy Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility — report

US President Donald Trump has asked his military advisers if 30,000-pound bombs could destroy Iran’s Fordo nuclear facility, Axios reports.

The bunker-buster bombs, known as the Massive Ordnance Penetrators, are in the US arsenal, but Israel does not have the weapons or the bombers needed to deploy the bombs.

Fordo is buried underground at a depth that is believed to be out of reach of Israeli aerial weaponry.

Officials from the Pentagon told Trump they believe the bombs could work against Fordo, although it’s not yet clear if Trump is so sure, Axios reports.
The bombs have never been used in actual combat, only in tests.

Why This Is the Only Bomb That Could Destroy Iran's Nuclear Bunker—Under 300 Feet of Rock

American military engineers designed the GBU-57/B bomb to devastate deeply buried bunkers without radioactive fallout. It’s the only nonnuclear weapon that can reach Iran’s hardest target

What Is the Massive Ordnance Penetrator? The U.S. Bomb Built to Collapse a Mountain

As the war between Israel and Iran escalates, a single U.S. weapon keeps getting mentioned—sometimes quietly, sometimes not so quietly. It’s called the Massive Ordnance Penetrator, or GBU-57/B, and it’s the largest non-nuclear bomb in the American arsenal.

It’s not designed to flatten cities. It’s not meant for shock and awe. It’s made for one thing: punching through hundreds of feet of reinforced concrete and rock to destroy whatever lies beneath. Military engineers built it for sites like Fordow, Iran’s deeply buried nuclear enrichment facility, hidden beneath a mountain and shielded by air defenses.

Right now, only one country can use it. Only one aircraft can carry it. And if the U.S. drops it, there’s no denying it: America is all-in.

US officials preparing for strike on Iran in the coming days — report

Senior officials in the US are getting ready for a possible strike on Iran in the coming days, Bloomberg reports, citing “people familiar with the matter.”

Some of the sources say that a strike over the weekend is a possibility.

The sources say that the situation is in flux and could still change, the report says.

Have you and Mike visited the monument in the NE that Kirk Cameron has made a movie about? - YouTube

I think our governments do have a limited power over us, and as @mattfivefour points out, we have the power of Christ to live fruitful lives under any regime. But it makes sense that our lives are more peaceful and productive under less oppressive regimes. I would add our brother @TCC's observation re: Iran
Yes, we have visited the monument in Plymouth MA. It’s really cool to see the Christian history of America and it’s sad how it’s hidden away.

I've never liked Candace since day one and it has nothing to do with redemption, rather a very predictable and observable dread arc she has been on since she landed. She was a bright-eyed fringe leftist who used to dox people for having wrong think on the internet, only to magically wake up a red-blooded conservative. And she just has sooooo much to say about sooooo much, and a lot of that has just been looney fare. Now, she's one-upped herself and she's telling the people serving in the military to get dishonorably discharged so they don't have to follow orders in context of Israel vs Iran. And to quote her exactly, "Get dishonorbaly discharged. Who cares?" And then she went on to defame our service in the sandbox.

I wonder if she has any idea whatsoever what a dishonorable discharge does to you. For those that don't know, it basically ruins your entire life and that's putting it very politely. And she talks about it so flippantly like it's nothing, but that's her MO. I don't think she has a serious bone in her body. Candace has to be one of the most insufferable people occupying the chattering classes today, along with Tucker, Nick Fuentes, Alex Jones, et al.

For those who don't know, some of the consequences of a Dishonorable Discharge:

Loss of 2nd Amendment Rights
No access to military installations, so cannot visit military family members, and cannot live with a military spouse on base/post
Military spouse's security clearance and/or job can be adversely affected
Civilian spouse's security clearance and/or job can be adversely affected
Children's attendance at some private schools can be adversely affected
Civilian dependents lose status and access to benefits, including housing, schools, medical, child care, Army Community Servce, Army Emergency Relief, Navy Relief, etc.
Loss of eligibility for USAA, Navy Credit Union, etc. insurance and banking services
No Veteran's benefits (medical, education, assistance programs), to include those programs dependents could have been eligible for
No VA disability benefits
No VA home loan benefits
No VA homeless benefits
Not considered a Veteran, so no DD214 and no Veteran's preference for government or civilian employment
Cannot get a letter or ID to prove service, so no Veteran discounts
Generally cannot obtain Federal, State, or other business loans, grants, etc., or participate in contracting activities
Generally cannot obtain Federal, State, or municipal employment
No industrial or government security clearance
Generally cannot get bonded
No unemployment benefits following discharge
No moving benefits following discharge; only the cheapest one-way ticket for the person discharged, and no property shipped. Any dependents are on their own
No Federal student loans or grants, and generally no State or County education benefits
If a Courts-Martial conviction occurred, the Federal/Felony conviction shows up every time a records check is run, including routine traffic stops, and all restrictions placed on convicted Felons apply
In some states, no access to public housing or other housing programs
In some places, no access to homeless shelters
Some churches, denominations, missions, ministries, etc. will not hire or allow to volunteer
Some private employers refuse to hire people with less than an Honorable Discharge. As the character of discharge gets worse, the percentage of employers, who refuse to hire, goes up
Some schools will not admit or allow to live in dorms/other student housing
Some States will not license for some professions

Lots of other consequences

Sounds kind of like self immolation to prove some political point.

I've never heard a word spoken by Owens but her reputation precedes her. A dishonorable discharge is like a felony conviction (not a fake one like Trump's). It will be a heavy burden every day for the rest of your life.

As for what Iran can still do, there is a possibility at least, of a dirty bomb. We (the US) really NEED to take out Fordow. Of course there is a risk to the US as well as Israel but it needs to get done!

There is a real risk to the US. Iran has military assets in Venezuela. Iran also has the capability to nuke the USA if they ever got THE bomb. So involvement is imperative. We should join right in with Israel. The US should hit and destroy all of the hardened sites first, then Israel and the US should split the country in two to avoid friendly fire, and finish off Iran's nuke and missile capabilities as quickly as possible.

Watch Trump's Reaction When This Reporter Revealed Who She Worked for

The president has been consulting with the brass about whether the bunker buster bombs can penetrate the Iranian nuclear facility in Fordow, which rests a half-mile beneath the surface. He met with his national security team in the Situation Room yesterday and will receive his intelligence briefing later this morning. There are rumblings that if Trump decides to give the green light for airstrikes, it could come as soon as this weekend.

I posted the above because of the statement that Fordow is a half mile below the surface. That seems more reasonable to me than the 300 feet that many sources claimed and I believed I shared in a post or two. I thought 300 feet wasn't very deep for such a place... It will truly be interesting to see how it goes if the US does use MOPs to destroy that site. I wonder how many it will take. There are probably better ways to do destroy the place but dropping bombs is the safest for the attacker.
