Israeli cabinet approves partial Gaza hostage deal in late night vote​

Under the broad contours of the deal, 50 hostages will be released within the first four days in exchange for 150 Palestinian security prisoners and a pause in the fighting during those 96 hours.​

The government approved early Wednesday morning a partial hostage deal that includes a pause in the Gaza war in exchange for a release of up to 80 out of over 239 people seized by terrorists during Hamas’s infiltration of southern Israel on October 7.

“I am extraordinarily gratified that some of these brave souls, who have endured weeks of captivity and an unspeakable ordeal, will be reunited with their families once this deal is fully implemented,” US President Joe Biden said after the vote, which took place after hours of debate.

Israel’s greatest strength, and weakness…

Listening to Israel’s leaders, media and the public, you realize that everyone knows the ceasefire is a tactical mistake.

But it’s a mistake Israel is compelled to make. It has no choice. Israel’s values and shared faith will not permit it to not save a life given the chance, no matter how high the cost.

So what’s next?

This evening:
Hamas will forward a list of at least 10 names of hostages to be released tomorrow.
At night after checking that the criteria are met, Israel will forward the list of terrorists to be released.

tomorrow:
Around 6:30am-7:00am the IDF ceases fire according to the operational consideration.
Morning hours: the transfer of the abductees to Israel through the Red Cross.
Afternoon hours: After reception and identification, release of the terrorists to their place of residence.

On the fourth day, 20 abductees will be released.
