I agree with all who have acknowledged how damaging false date setting is to our witnessing efforts.
I think date setting causes as much damage within the believing body of Christ. It can cause much strife and antagonizing by those who hold to views other than pre-trib, pre-millennial rapture, towards us who do.
It also can hurt those who are new or weaker in the faith, causing great disappointment, hurting their growth or potentially causing them to stumble. Even those strong in faith can get caught up in the frenzy and end up hurt and disappointed.
From what I can see, the pre-trib rapture doesn't seem to be the prevalent view among believers. And in a time where there are so many opposing doctrines, false teachers, false prophets and false gospels it becomes even more difficult to contend for the truth of the pre-trib rapture when these dates come and go.
If I'm wrong to believe in the imminent return of Jesus for His church and the date can be known, then I guess it will still end up being imminent for me when it happens since I don't look to any specific day.
For me, there can be no better way to have an eager expectation of His return than to live in anticipation that it could happen at any given moment.

What I like to do is pretend I am a giant Greek like Titan with a huge back pack filled with yarn. And I go from city to city dangling little knotted yarnettes wrapped around fluffy fuzzy sayings: "Peace and safety." So the plan is, I just back slowly up inches (to my big feet) at a time backing those little kittens pawing at the felt like fuzzy sayings until I get them into the the canyon of Ez 38. Where those kittens can finally spring about pawing at all manner of air fluff and be joyfully in the warm epicenter of eschatological correctness.
Then I wake up...and ask the bartender for another...lol. And he rips out a piece of yarn, dangling before me backing up ever so slowly, "another." And I chase it like the kittens in my story. However, I never get warm and eschatologically epicentric and all. But eventually...I do get...another

Ok but I if say its not gonna happen (I will have you know on the West Coast we still have almost an entire 1.5 hours left), then when it does not happen I would like some credit if that is ok with everyone. See, I told you. I want to be known for being the most accurate date setter alive. As long as the rapture does not happen, then I am a seer every single day...yep
But is not that so adorable. The pastor that is famed for this date. How sweet and sure his words. How certain and confident. Its almost like a song or an emotion playing me. I don't think that pastor meant that. But now, I have twitches. Anytime I see a pastor with emotional certainty I get dizzy. My feet stomp. I start foaming at the mouth. Does anyone know of how I might equalize? Cuz I really want to share in the warmth and emotional certainty of spiritual leaders. Its just by this time its almost starting to feel like a huge pile of "let's go Barbie dolls" set on fire. Well, that is ok because I don't exactly play with Barbie dolls. But I guess it hurts in places knowing there are like a lot of Barbies that won't meet new kids under the Christmas tree this year. Because we needed them for counter eschatological culture support dolls. At least that's my story. And i'm sticking to it.
