IDF prepares 'significant' retaliatory strike to Iran's missile barrage

The IDF on Saturday commented regarding the retaliation against Iran for launching ballistic missiles toward Israel, clarifying that combat is currently ongoing on seven different fronts. Alongside the continued fighting in Gaza and the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and forces are engaged in operations in Lebanon, Iran, and its proxies in Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.

The struggle with Iran is viewed as a direct conflict, and it is expected that the Iranians will be preoccupied with their own affairs rather than just with their proxies in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, Yemen, and Iraq.

The IDF plans to respond significantly but has not detailed the nature of that response. The IDF noted that the Iranians launched 201 missiles from Iran to Israel, some of which impacted targets.

Consequently, there is a broad recommendation within the IDF to respond to the Iranian attack while minimizing risks and maximizing opportunities.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Wednesday told pilots and air crews at an airforce base that “after we strike in Iran, everyone will understand what you did in the preparation and training process.”

Visiting the Hatzerim base ahead of Israel’s promised response to Iran’s October 1 major ballistic missile attack, Gallant said, “Everyone who dreamed a year ago of beating us and attacking us paid a heavy price and are no longer in that dream.”
Israel has held several major drills simulating long-range strikes on Iran over the years in preparation for a possible confrontation with Tehran. On Tuesday, the FBI said that it was investigating the unauthorized release of US classified documents on Israel’s latest preparations for a potential retaliatory attack.

Israel had hoped that Iran would feel compelled to respond. Now that most of its air defense systems have been neutralized, we will finally be able to attack our true target, which we couldn't before due to the current administration in the White House.

Anyone with even a basic understanding of warfare can see that last night's attack was merely a prelude to a more significant operation.

I hope that proves to be the case. They accomplished a little with regards to taking out those things needed to make solid rocket fuel but taking out Air Defense systems isn't helpful if you then stop because they'll eventually replace those... You take out Air Defense Systems to make it safer to go after real targets...

Personally, I won't believe that Iran is going to attack Israel again until they're actually doing it. They'd have to be pretty stupid to do that, so there is a possibility... I figure the noise they're making is for internal consumption. They might even tell Iranians they did when they didn't.

I think that was the purpose behind them taking out the radar, because they have a plan to go back again and not have the radar able to detect the planes flying in.

You take out radar right before the next wave attacks the primary targets. Waiting any length of time allows repairs, or another system set up.

Taking out the Air Defense Radars is standard operating procedure for any attack like this. The air assets needed freedom to do what little bombing they did do so the Air Defense Radars were taken out, at least ones that had coverage where the planes were going to be flying. That would have been done for just the recent attack. Iran will move assets around and have reasonable coverage again quickly and will repair/replace the damaged radars as quickly as they can. The launchers don't usually get damaged in these cases, just the radars as that's what the missiles home in on. Iran's Air Defense Network isn't totally destroyed, they still have an Air Defense capability, just lost a lot of their longer range systems until they're repaired.

The ministers were explicitly told that the Israeli attack on Iran did not include the reaction to the sending of the drone and that another reaction is expected!

It’s 2024. They could surprise us all. This could be one of BIDEN’S last things to do, in an effort to try to sway the vote towards the democrats.

WHO KNOWS. If Biden and Kamala had wise advisors, they would suggest launching a single strike by the USA along with Israel to destroy Iran’s 2 nuclear uranium enrichment facilities.
