Denmark Prime Minister: ‘The US Has No Right to Annex’ Greenland

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has pushed back forcefully against President Donald Trump’s renewed talk of taking control of Greenland, telling him to “stop the threats” and rejecting any suggestion that the United States has a claim to the territory.

Speaking to the BBC on Sunday, Frederiksen said it made “absolutely no sense” to argue that the U.S. needs to take over Greenland, stressing that Washington has “no right to annex any of the three nations in the Danish kingdom.

Her remarks came after Trump, following the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces, on Saturday again raised the idea of acquiring Greenland.

In a phone interview with The Atlantic on Sunday, Trump said he remained committed to the idea, saying the island is “surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships” and declaring, “We do need Greenland, absolutely. We need it for defense.”

Frederiksen’s remarks come days after Trump escalated his campaign to claim Greenland as U.S. territory by appointing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as a special envoy, while figures close to the Trump administration shared posts suggesting that a U.S. takeover was imminent.

Considering the size of the population in Greenland, that was a pretty good turn-out, without getting paid :)
The total population of Greenland is not quite 57,000.

And they aren't all in major centres. For them to have that type of turnout, that had to mean that some of the tiniest far flung villages, that don't even have roads to get to, came out.

This is what google told me for comparison.

Kamloops is a city located in British Columbia, Canada with a current estimated population of 113,365. (my home city in BC which is a smaller city, is almost twice the size of the population of Greenland)

and in the USA
Examples of Cities Around 57,000 (Approximate Population):
  • Daly City, California: A vibrant community near San Francisco, known for its diversity.
  • Flagstaff, Arizona: A mountain town with a university, gateway to national parks, offering outdoor recreation.
  • Gallup, New Mexico: Rich in Native American culture and history, on historic Route 66.
  • North Miami, Florida: A growing city in the Miami-Dade area.
  • Fort Lee, New Jersey: A commuter town with NYC views, offering convenience and amenities

I know that when I looked into it earlier this year right after the Greenland elections, that something like 90% or so were against joining the US under any circumstances. The VP was making a visit, and they were looking for local supporters for photo ops, and having some social event that his wife would attend. That failed and the VP went to the US base instead.

Things don't appear to have changed.

as I mentioned in post #50 on the previous page, I think this pressure on Greenland will play into getting Europe ready to become Rome 2.0

More seems to be happening in that Nordic coalition plan that I think I mentioned even earlier in this thread, and back when the plans were first being floated late last spring between the Arctic Nordic nations and Canada as Trump began to threaten Greenland.

This is moving towards the end of NATO - again something that seemed obvious because legally the framework of NATO cannot survive one member attacking another. This may be what Trump wishes anyway, much like his problems with the UN- he doesn't want to be a part of multinational groups. And considering where I think he fits in the grand scheme of things, I think he was meant to become that wrecking ball for the "new" world order.

Ending NATO will FORCE the EU to pull together. Especially with their fear of Russia on the doorstep. An army will be necessary and not some token Frenchmen, a few Germans and a couple of Swedes.

Denmark sets a military tripwire:
"In military deterrence lingo, what we're witnessing in Greenland is sometimes referred to as the "glass plate" or the "tripwire."
It's a metaphor for breaking the glass — or crossing the threshold — between peace and war.
Denmark announced Wednesday that it is bolstering its troop, naval and air presence in the Arctic island in conjunction with NATO allies.
"

My comment: this is technically supposed to reassure Trump that the NATO partners are taking the threat of Russia and China seriously but as this analysis by the CBC points out, this is largely aimed at getting Trump to back off. That hope will fail as I suspect God is allowing Trump to do exactly what he seems to be doing and that is to force the EU (and Canada) into a globalist alliance that will eventually result in Rome 2.0.

and then this hitting the Canadian news 22 hours ago, and continuing to gain traction today across other major Canadian news sites saying the same thing:

Canada is considering sending soldiers to join in a steadily increasing contingent with Denmark

"Prime Minister Mark Carney is considering sending soldiers to Greenland for military exercises with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies, as U.S. President Donald Trump threatens tariffs on European nations unless they let him purchase and control the semiautonomous island.

Two senior Canadian officials have told CBC News that a set of contingency plans were drawn up last week and presented to the federal government.

A Royal Canadian Air Force contingent is already taking part in a pre-planned NORAD exercise in Greenland, but the prime minister is weighing whether to send additional forces as part of sovereignty exercises the Danes are planning, which could include drills to protect the Arctic island's critical infrastructure.
"

This references something I brought up here, the plans I mentioned.
.....The plans that I read about took into consideration the landscape, the problems with an assymetric type of warfare, and the advantages that other Arctic countries have, knowing about Arctic conditions. The American response was considered, and it was interesting that the Alaskan airbase and the American experience there and oddly enough, in Greenland was brought into the plans.

It was not about numbers or capability, sheer overwhelming force was definitely on the American side of the equation. But the experience and equipment required for fighting over long distances in Arctic weather was equally interesting. The Finnish model of dealing with invasion was brought up. ....

....I think it's something related to Biblical prophecy or it wouldn't be happening because it just doesn't make sense otherwise.

My personal rule is that when things don't make sense, look to God and the Bible and see if they make sense thru that lens.
....
Bottom line, pray, watch and consider the possibility that this plays out towards Bible prophecy in some way that defies any rational explanation otherwise.

LOL don't underestimate the speed of things that may happen in 2026 !!
I'm praying and hoping it's faster. I just want to keep myself from hoping too much and think clearly as I gauge what I see. But there IS a strong possibility that things could continue speeding up. If they follow the same trajectory as they have in the past. It's almost an exponential curve, a pretty steady acceleration of events and that's been for quite some time. No slow down moments, no going backwards to things the way they were before.

Just a steady incline in speed and intensity with a curve, not a straight line.

When we hit the end point is up to God but it's definitely accelerating.

You're right Margery, in the end God has the ultimate say in what proceeds forward and what must remain for his purpose but on a separate note it's funny how Elon Musk was estimating for most of his AI predicted stuff to happen by 2030 yet on the bible technology discussion video with John Haller, Scott Townsend asked why Elon would estimate 2030 as a year when the speed of AI Quantum technology has multiplied so quickly that this year could actually be the year that most of Elons predictions could happen !!

The U.S. Supreme Court could throw a wrench into Trump’s plan to take Greenland as soon as Tuesday

"The U.S. Supreme Court could rule on Tuesday that President Donald Trump’s trade tariffs are illegal—and that would throw up a significant hurdle for his plan to acquire Greenland.
President Trump posted his latest threat to take over Greenland late last night on Truth Social: “Now it is time, and it will be done!!!”"

"But analysts noted this morning that the court is due to issue rulings on Tuesday of this week. The expectation on Wall Street is that the court will rule that the president does not have the power under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to impose tariffs on routine international trade. If that happens, Trump’s threats could become meaningless, at least in the short-term.
“Threatened U.S. tariffs … may be overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court,” UBS advised clients in a note this morning."

Even if the courts do rule that way, it will be a temporary setback at best, because the pattern of Trump's behaviour is to consistently pursue his own agenda regardless of court rulings with the tariffs. And Tariffs are the smallest part of his plan to take Greenland, not the main part.
