If Senator Lieberman was still serving in the Senate, the Governor would have had the opportunity to name his replacement.

Why not? It should not matter what party holds the seat when the Gov in most states has the authority to choose the replacement.

I was always frustrated with the conservative push regularly made to show a favorable light and partnership alliance by Lieberman. He had moments that were helpful but they were far and few between in my opinion.
