Four US soldiers 'found dead' after vanishing near border of Putin ally after Nato war drill

Four US Army soldiers have been found dead after disappearing near the Belarus border following a set of Nato exercises yesterday.

The US military confirmed the disappearance on Wednesday, with American and Lithuanian officials scrambling a search team to locate the quartet.

However, local media today claimed that the four US soldiers had been found dead.

The military has not yet provided an update but previously promised to give additional information as it becomes available.

In its latest update, the US Embassy said: "The soldiers, all from 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, were conducting scheduled tactical training at the time of the incident. Search and recovery efforts are underway."

Additional information I found is the soldiers were in a tracked vehicle. The vehicle could have rolled over, or perhaps crashed in a body of water.

Their vehicle has been found submerged in water.

3 Missing US Soldiers Found Dead in Lithuania​

Three of the four U.S. Army soldiers who went missing in Lithuania last week when their vehicle sank in a peat bog were found dead at the site, while the search for the remaining soldier is ongoing, the Lithuanian president said Monday.

Lithuania said earlier in the day that rescuers recovered the armored vehicle of the missing soldiers in a military training area in the Baltic country.

"It is with deep sadness and sorrow that I received the news of the tragic loss of three U.S. soldiers," Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda posted on X.
