Well-known
Jesus loved children and even stated ,
Suffer little children , and forbid them not , to come unto me , for such is the kingdom of heaven
Matthew 19:14
Matthew 18:3
As a person who loves children and has worked with many over the years, I wanted to post a thread for anyone to share an interaction, phrase, memory etc of the littlest of people that touched them , was an encouragement, a learned lesson and such that may, by sharing here , in turn bring a much needed smile or some encouragement to us big “ kids”.
This is being posted today after being in a dollar store and while looking in an aisle , a little boy walking with his mom happened to be in the same aisle and I heard him exclaim,
“ look mommy … Jesus “… I glanced over and saw that he was pointing at those prayer candles that have the not so flattering pictures of usually Jesus or Mary .
As I continued to watch , he bent down and gently picked up the candle with a picture of Jesus , looked at it and then put it back on the shelf.
He then said to his mom , “ I love Jesus “ and they left the aisle.
My smile turned to quivering lips and my dry eyes not so dry anymore…..
I immediately thought of these verses and the childlike faith we are called to have…. And how I , maybe like many, have walked past those type of candles and either ignored them or critiqued the poorly imagined image of Jesus…… and how a little child saw what I didn’t.
I do not think a Jesus candle will ever be ignored or viewed the same again by me when I pass by one !
