AT&T confirmed Tuesday afternoon that customers are experiencing "nationwide" issue, with many AT&T users reporting they could not contact non-AT&T account holders.
"The carriers are working as quickly as possible to diagnose and resolve the issue," an AT&T spokesperson shared with USA TODAY.
AT&T customers are still able to make calls between other AT&T customers and make 9-1-1 calls, the company said.
The number of customers affected but the outage is unclear but reports of outages or disruptions to AT&T customers has steadily increased since 1 p.m. ET, according to Downdetector.
