Another help me decide on a laptop thread

I ordered my laptop today but the Vevo was out of stock so I found a different one. Similar specs and good ratings but cheaper.

Lenovo Ideapad 5 | 15.6" FHD IPS Laptop | AMD Ryzen 7 5825U | 16GB DDR4 RAM | 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD | Backlit Keyboard | Numeric Keypad | Wi-Fi 6 + Bluetooth | Abyss Blue | Windows 11 Home (Renewed) https://a.co/d/ips8U28

I think you'll really like the Lenovo Ideapad. I bought one two years ago and have never regretted it.

I love it. It's been great. The only issue is the fingerprint reader doesn't work right with Linux. It worked fine with Windows 11 the week I ran that. That's not the computers fault. It's a compatibility issue with Linux. I just replaced my old modem and router with new ones and now I'm getting the speed I'm paying for. I'm paying for Gig speed. I was getting 60 MB. Now I'm getting 900 MB+ next to the router. What a difference a new modem and router makes.

A Google search for surface pro missing cursor and keyboard doesn't work gave me the following AI summary. Maybe it will help?
-----
If your Surface Pro is experiencing a missing cursor and unresponsive keyboard, the first steps to try are: checking if your touchpad is enabled, detaching and reattaching the keyboard, updating your drivers, restarting your device, and checking for any physical debris on the touchpad; if the issue persists, you may need to further troubleshoot by checking your system settings, running a system file checker, or even considering a system restore or factory reset.

Here are a few things to try:
  • Check touchpad settings: Ensure your touchpad is not disabled in your system settings.

  • Detach and reattach the keyboard: Disconnect the keyboard from your Surface Pro and then reattach it firmly, checking for any debris that might be interfering with the connection.

  • Update drivers: Go to Device Manager and update the drivers for your touchpad and keyboard.

  • Restart your Surface Pro: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

  • Check for physical issues: Inspect the touchpad for any dirt or debris that could be preventing proper functionality.

  • Keyboard shortcuts: Try pressing function keys like "Fn + F3" or "Fn + F5" to toggle touchpad visibility.

  • System updates: Check for available Windows updates and install them.

  • Run System File Checker: Use the "sfc /scannow" command in Command Prompt to check for corrupted system files.

  • Check UEFI settings: Boot your Surface into the UEFI firmware settings to see if the cursor appears there, which could indicate a hardware issue.
If none of the above solutions work, you may need to:
  • Restore to a previous system point: If you recently made changes to your system, try restoring to a previous state where the keyboard and touchpad were working properly.

  • Perform a factory reset: This should be considered as a last resort as it will erase all your data.

  • Contact Microsoft support: If the problem persists, reach out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
