After Israeli strike, Trump declares US commitment to defend Qatar if it’s attacked again

The White House on Wednesday published an executive order from US President Donald Trump instructing the government to view any armed attack on Qatar as “a threat to the peace and security of the United States.”

The order, a notable American commitment to ensure the security of an Arab state, came some three weeks after an Israeli strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha prompted criticism from Trump and outrage from the Qataris.

Trump subsequently promised that such an attack would not recur, and on Monday persuaded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to apologize to his Qatari counterpart for the strike and promise not to do so again.

“I want to assure you that Israel was targeting Hamas, not Qataris,” Netanyahu’s office said he assured Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. At a joint press conference with Trump later that day, Netanyahu stressed: “I said to the prime minister of Qatar, Israel was targeting terrorists. It wasn’t targeting Qatar. And of course, we regretted the loss of the Qatari citizen. He wasn’t our target.”

“In the event of such an attack, the United States shall take all lawful and appropriate measures — including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military — to defend the interests of the United States and of the State of Qatar and to restore peace and stability,” the order declares.

ASSURING THE SECURITY OF THE STATE OF QATAR

Sec. 2. Commitment. (a) The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States.

(b) In the event of such an attack, the United States shall take all lawful and appropriate measures — including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military — to defend the interests of the United States and of the State of Qatar and to restore peace and stability.

(c) The Secretary of War, in coordination with the Secretary of State and the Director of National Intelligence, shall maintain joint contingency planning with the State of Qatar to ensure a rapid and coordinated response to any foreign aggression against the State of Qatar.

(d) The Secretary of State shall reaffirm this assurance to the State of Qatar and coordinate with allies and partners to ensure complementary measures of support.

(e) The Secretary of State shall continue to partner with the State of Qatar as and when appropriate for conflict resolution and mediation in recognition of the State of Qatar ‘s extensive diplomatic and mediation experience.

For Complete Executive Order:

This ties Israel's hands in taking offensive or defensive military action against adversaries of Israel who may be using Qatar as a sanctuary if they continue aggression against Israel from within Qatar. Not good coming from Israel's closest ally the US.
Praying 🙏

🤔 Impeach? Would a President Vance be any better?

What happened to supporting and defending Israel against all enemies? What happened to our permanent friendship? What happened to the Abraham Accords? What happened to the War on Terror?

Where are Mike Huckabee, Pastor Jeffress, etc.?

  :amen: :amen: :thankyou: :thankyou:

Trump’s security guarantee to Qatar reshapes Gulf dynamics and alarms Israel

The White House announcement of a written U.S. security guarantee to Qatar is far more than a diplomatic gesture. It is, in practice, a protective umbrella Washington has extended to the Gulf emirate, pledging to come to its defense if attacked.

According to officials and regional observers, two events shifted the equation. The first was Iran’s attack at the close of the recent 12-day war, an operation coordinated in advance with the Qataris. The second was Israel’s strike in Doha against senior Hamas figures. That Israeli move, carried out in defiance of Qatari objections, was intended as a warning to the emirate’s leadership. By all accounts, the message was received: alarmed by the prospect of further escalation, Qatar sent a delegation to Washington seeking a unilateral written security guarantee.

Seen from Israel, the episode carries additional significance. The highly public — and to some extent humiliating — apology that Trump pressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to deliver to Qatar’s prime minister was only a prelude. The real prize for Doha was the written American commitment, which could reshape Gulf dynamics and limit Israel’s maneuvering room with a neighbor that continues to host Hamas leaders while deepening its security ties with Washington.

Qatar has the USAs largest and vital airbase in the middle east. We need to keep this alliance with Qatar. With the middle east, we sometimes have to make deals with folks we dont agree with, but need the real estate.

I would not make much of an issue with the security deal Trump made. Its not like Israel had plans to attack Qatar.
