Wild moment Iranian drones swarm US warship with 4,000 troops at dock

Well-known
New footage has been released revealing dozens of Iranian drones and speedboats swarming several US Navy ships near the Persian Gulf.
Footage showed the Iran navy sent small vessels to confront the USS Bataan and the USS Carter Hall in the fraught Strait of Hormuz.

Armed soldiers controlled the speed boats from Iran's Islamic revolutionary guard corps and came within inches of the ships, while drones also taunted the boats and managed to snap pictures right above them.

The standoff comes just weeks after the US warned vessels to avoid the Persian Gulf following a threat Iran made about seizing oil tankers in the region.
The footage, taken from several drones and speed boats, also showed Iranian soldiers speaking a mix of Farsi.

The US soldiers in the footage can be heard responding to the swarm of vessels, though it is unclear precisely what was said.

The ships, helicopter carriers, and support vessels carrying more than 4,000 American troops were sent to the Gulf in response to Iran's continued threats of seizing commercial ships in the region.
The Strait of Hormuz, which significantly impacts the world economy as one of the fifth world oil passed through its waters, lies between Iran and Oman at its narrowest point, which is just 21 miles wide.

The US Navy shouldn't let anything get that close to them, in the sea or the air. Appears to me to be an operational failure that needs to be addressed.

Remember the USS Cole

Remember who the inept president was at the time of the Cole attack? A democrat, William Jefferson Clinton.

The Cole was in a hostile port sailing under peaceful conditions with the Phalanx onboard defense systems offline.

Want to bet diBen has the current ships sailing in a non hostile manner?

The Cole attack would have never happened if the ship would have been sailing under hostile conditions. If the Phalanx would have been on there would have been a oil slick where the small vessel was.

Targets of opportunity.

At the very least, opportunity training (marksmanship) that should/could have been exploited.

How many of the personnel on board had personal side-arms? Rifles? Top-side security?

Where were the larger weapons operators? Signal jamming? RADAR? Other systems. Etc.

Helicopters with rockets? Air cover, overwatch, and surveillance?

Counter-drone drones? (Observation and weapons platform)

Why were so many Sailors/Marines/Soldiers top-side at one time? Why isn't there low-tech top-side protection from observation platforms (fixed and aerial)?

Rules of engagement? (I know, they can't and shouldn't release this info)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Methinks the Old Goats need to be in charge . . .
