Just waiting for the Rapture at this point!
Were you adopted by God or are you a foster child?
Growing up as a child there are four possibilities regarding your upbringing as listed below.
1) You were blood born into a family.
2) You were adopted by a family.
3) You were a foster child to a family.
4) You had no family at all.
I would like to discuss the difference between being adopted and being a foster child.
When a child is adopted the parents are stating that both morally and legally they have accepted the child just as if they were blood born to them. The parents are now obligated both morally and legally to keep and take care of the child until they are of age to take care of themselves. This obligation has nothing to do with how well the child behaves or how helpful the child is. Meaning the total responsibility is on the parents not the child. With good parents, how secure and loved this child will be.
When a child is taken in by foster parents the parents are now obligated both morally and legally to keep and take care of the child until they are of age to take care of themselves or the parents change their minds. Why would they change their minds? Well maybe they only took in the child for the money they would receive and no longer need the money. The most common reasons though are that the child is misbehaving, constantly sick, not getting along with other blood born or adopted children or not contributing. Meaning the total responsibility is on the child not the parents. How easy it is for a child in this situation to feel unloved and insecure.
So do you believe that you are saved buy your works, Jesus plus your works or Jesus alone. If you believe you are saved by Jesus alone, then you believe that you have been adopted by God which is correct. It you believe that there is anything that you need to do other than accept God’s free gift of Jesus, then you believe that you are God’s foster child. That’s pretty sad because you would constantly wonder if God would give you back to Satan based on your behavior. Whether you know it or not that is also pretty insulting to God.
Here are some verses from the Bible that state that we are adopted by God and that we are his sons (and daughters).
Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Galatians 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1 John 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
