The Bible tells us the heavens, earth, and everything in the world was created in 6 literal (24 hour) days, plus a rest day. God broke the fountains of the deep when the Noah's flood began, rain fell, and everything that had been on the earth (dry land) was killed, except for what was on Noah's ark. Without a vapor canopy, earth's climate changed after the flood, so not unusual to find tropical, etc. fossils in currently non-tropical, etc. areas. Whether one thinks hydroplate, tectonic plate, or some combination correctly explains a young-earth, with the continents originally together, and later, probably in conjunction with the flood, or perhaps during Peleg's lifetime, being split and moved. The earth is only about 6000 years old. FWIW, Larkin, whose charts are still esteemed, especially for eschatological study, believed in the "gap theory," as evidenced by some of his charts and diagrams.
