US and Ukraine sign deal- mineral rights for military support

from the article:

"The US has signed a deal with Ukraine on the joint exploitation of its energy and mineral resources, after months of tense negotiations.

The two countries have agreed to establish a reconstruction investment fund to spur Ukraine's economic recovery from its war with Russia.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said it showed both sides were committed to lasting peace and prosperity in Ukraine. For Kyiv, the deal is seen as essential to accessing US military aid.

Ukraine is believed to have vast reserves of critical minerals like graphite, titanium and lithium. They are highly sought after because of their use in renewable energy, military applications and industrial infrastructure.

The agreement comes amid a US trade war with China, where 90% of the world's current rare-earth stocks are sourced.

According to the statement from the US Treasury on Wednesday afternoon, the newly created US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund recognises the "significant financial and material support" the US has given Ukraine since Russia invaded in February 2022.

The US treasury secretary said in a video statement that the deal would help "unlock Ukraine's growth assets".

The language of the announcement shows much more solidarity with Ukraine than is usual for the Trump administration.

It refers to "Russia's full scale invasion" and adds that "no state or person who financed or supplied the Russian war machine will be allowed to benefit from the reconstruction of Ukraine"."

Russia hasn't commented yet.

This just happened a few hours ago.

THIS was what the sticking point was, why Trump threatened to hold back further military support. That was the fight when Zelensky went to Washington, or the reason for the spat seen round the world.

The threat of this was likely why Medvedev was spouting off about Nukes the other day.

After Trump and Zelensky met at the Pope's funeral. The article mentions that.

THIS might be why Putin is upset, and why Ukraine signed.

Pay close attention to the "no state or person who financed or supplied the Russian war machine will be allowed to benefit from the reconstruction of Ukraine"

Trump just trumped Putin. He got the wealth that Putin wanted.

Next move is Putin's response.

Watch for Gog/USSR to cut off energy from Europe and extort a coalition.
Maybe start looking at the Western Hemisphere for spoil resources*

From what little I've read about the deal, it doesn't seem like a good deal for the USA. It is good for Ukraine... I think getting deals done might be more desired than getting deals good for the USA done. Makes me wonder how things will turn out with the Iran negotiations...

I'm highly skeptical of any Iran deal. You don't make deals with regimes. Especially regimes that chant for your death! I would not be talking to Iran period. Certainly not on their allies ground (Qatar).

Kremlin Reacts To Minerals Deal Signing: 'Trump Has Broken The Zelensky Regime'

The Kremlin has said that what the newly signed minerals deal between Ukraine and Washington does is effectively force Kiev to pay for all future military aid.

"Trump has broken the Kyiv regime to the point where they will have to pay for U.S. aid with mineral resources," Medvedev, a former Russian president and current deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, stated on Telegram.

My take on this

When a KGB bureau chief turned head of Russia threatens missiles, while killing off his generals (which he is busy busy with currently) he's letting off steam. Worth paying attention to, but not too bad.

When he responds politely it's time to get concerned.

He isn't happy- he let that be known the other day letting Medvedev talk nuke stuff.

Now he's really ticked. Lately he's been purging/assassinating a bunch of generals so the survivors might be able to breathe a sigh of relief, but I think Putin will consolidate his gains in Crimea while he focuses on other parts of his to do list.

Those include:
Brics- replace the Petrodollar with something more sanction proof, preferably something that will weaken the US financially

SCO- strengthen ties within that organization especially with Turkey now as they are Syria's new boss, and with Iran as they can draw American firepower away from whatever front Putin chooses to attack next. AND with China and North Korea same reason. He will likely start egging China, North Korea and Iran on in their disputes with the States.

THE BALTICS and by association, Europe. Not a hot war necessarily, at least till the BRICS project is complete but this is where it could go 2 ways. If Russia feels like starting something here is where he could irritate NATO and create division if he thinks Trump is more about deals and appeasement than backing NATO in a fight. Kind of depends on what happens with the Iran deal. If he thinks this would strengthen NATO, then he might just nip at NATO's heels in Europe and destabilize the Middle East some more using Iran as a proxy to get at the USA.
