The United Nations Security Council plans to hold an emergency meeting at the request of Colombia, Russia, and China to discuss the United States’ operation in Venezuela, which ended in the capture of Nicolas Maduro.
Colombia reportedly requested the meeting, with support from Russia and China, the BBC reported.
“The attendees have not yet been confirmed, but may include the UN Secretary-General António Guterres,” per the BBC.
Russia and Iran have condemned the actions, with the Russian Foreign Ministry calling the strikes an "act of armed aggression against Venezuela." The Iranian Foreign Ministry also said, "The US military aggression against an independent state that is a member of the United Nations is a gross violation of regional and international peace and security, the consequences of which will affect the entire international system."
However, the international community overwhelmingly stands with the United States in taking out the brutal narco-state dictator.
