U.S., Iran to Hold Talks Friday Despite Dispute Over Agenda

TCC

Well-known

Nuclear talks between the United States and Iran will be held in Muscat, Oman on Friday after Tehran reportedly requested a change of venue and expressed a desire to keep the negotiations focused on its nuclear program.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an X post on Wednesday that the talks were scheduled for around 10 a.m. local time in Muscat, thanking Oman for facilitating the meeting. The talks had previously been expected to take place in Turkey.

When Iran does anything like that, there is a reason behind it.

Might be a delay tactic, or Oman may be helping Iran in some way that Turkey won't allow.

Oman is an Arab Muslim ally of Iran and a "friend" of the US. Oman is NOT friends with Israel, nor are they part of the Abe Accords. Turkey is NOT a fan of Iran, and is still a member of NATO.

Indirect US-Iran Talks To Avoid War End In Agreement For 2nd Round, Cautious Optimism

The much anticipated talks between American and Iranian officials which kicked off Friday in Oman, in order to prevent war - or rather what many would describe as staving off US unprovoked attack - are being done in indirect fashion, at least in the opening phase.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is in Muscat for the discussions, while Trump advisers Steve Witkoff and (his son-in-law) Jared Kushner are also taking part. Iran's ministry of foreign affairs has stated the goal of the meeting is to reach "a fair, mutually satisfactory, and honorable agreement regarding the nuclear issue." Just before 6pm Oman time, Iran's state media reported the indirect talks with the US have ended "for now" - but without elaborating. Crucially, another round is set for the coming days. There are positive initial statements out of Tehran:

IRNA: INDICATORS OF AN UNDERSTANDING DURING THE FIRST ROUND OF NEGOTIATIONS WITH AMERICA

That would be interesting if Oman talks are looking clearly enough like stall tactics to the extent that while they are still going on, the US strikes Iran by surprise (while the entourages are having dinner together).
Just like last year. Everyone thought Iran had more time to make the deal based on Trumps public comments. Privately he said “Launch”

YNET: Senior Israeli official on U.S. talks with Iran: “There is concern this is heading toward an agreement that is not good for us. This is not negotiations between Witkoff and Kushner with the Iranians. The Turks are in the picture, as well as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. There are many players influencing President Trump. We are worried this is moving toward a deal that will not be good for Israel and that is concerning.”

Mossad Insider: Iran War within 2 Weeks

IDSF - Israel’s Defence and Security Forum

In today’s briefing, a very senior former Mossad officer – with his identity concealed and voice altered – warns that a major strike on Iran could come within the next two weeks, and explains the hidden intelligence and ethical dilemmas behind such a decision.

Here is the recording of the briefing from today:

Trump After ‘Good Meeting’ with Netanyahu: ‘Nothing Definitive’ on Iran as Pentagon Preps Second Carrier

President Donald Trump said after a nearly three-hour White House meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that “there was nothing definitive reached” beyond his insistence that negotiations with Iran continue — warning that if a deal cannot be consummated, “we will just have to see what the outcome will be,” as the Pentagon readies a second aircraft carrier for possible deployment to the Middle East.

Speaking in a post on Truth Social following Wednesday’s session, Trump described the meeting as “very good,” adding that “the tremendous relationship between our two Countries continues.”

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, in a statement posted to X, said the two leaders discussed “the negotiations with Iran, Gaza and regional developments,” with Netanyahu emphasizing “the security needs of the State of Israel in the context of the negotiations.”

“The two leaders agreed on continued coordination and the close contact between them,” the Israeli readout said.

Wednesday’s meeting marked Netanyahu’s seventh visit to Washington since Trump returned to office and came days after indirect U.S.-Iran talks in Oman nearly unraveled over Tehran’s demands to narrow the scope of discussions strictly to enrichment levels.

The Pentagon has ordered a second aircraft carrier strike group to prepare to deploy to the Middle East amid concerns about a potential attack on Iran. President Trump is considering this move if negotiations with Iran fail. While no official order for deployment has been given, the USS George H.W. Bush could leave the East Coast in two weeks. It will join the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, already in the region.

Jordan announced that it will allow the use of its land and skies for a possible attack by the US and Israel against Iran. Bahrain threatens a broad military response against Iran if it attacks US bases in its country. Azerbaijan also threatens to attack Iran if it dares to attack US bases in Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani Defense Minister has ordered his army to prepare possible targets of the Iranian regime for retaliatory attacks in the event of an Iranian attack.

IDF’s Persian Account:

“We kindly request patriotic Iranian people to please only follow our official channels of contact and get in touch with us for any kind of cooperation. The pages and links included in this post (link in bio) are the only official and legitimate accounts.”

What if the real message from the Trump–Netanyahu meeting was the one you didn’t hear?
Strategic silence may be part of keeping Khamenei guessing. And if this meeting didn’t set the stage for joint action on Iran, the next one likely will.

The Israeli Navy conducted large scale military exercises this week.

Iran rushes to protect Natanz, its most crucial nuclear site, from potential US strike. Tehran may have used the delay in the US's potential strike to make the beneath-mountain facility nearly untouchable.
