Typology of Christ

I guess it may be on topic but i'm back to Genesis again and i wondering whether the angel of the Lord that spoke to Hagar was Jesus ?

7Now the angelb of the LORD found Hagar by a spring of water in the desert—the spring along the road to Shur. 8“Hagar, servant of Sarai,” he said, “where have you come from, and where are you going?”

“I am running away from my mistress Sarai,” she replied.

9So the angel of the LORD told her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her authority.” 10Then the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.”

11The angel of the LORD proceeded:

“Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son.

And you shall name him Ishmael,c

for the LORD has heard your cry of affliction.

12He will be a wild donkey of a man,

and his hand will be against everyone,

and everyone’s hand against him;

he will live in hostility

toward all his brothers.”

I may be totally wrong, but I was taught at one time that Jesus is always the communicator when God speaks to man. Please correct me if this is incorrect, I have come to realize how little I know compared to others here.

No you're not completely wrong, there were occasions where this occurred , but God's way of communicating his messages prior to the completion of the bible were either via his angels or prophets.
When Jesus appeared in the OT and communicated with Abraham and Moses ( immediate examples that come to mind) it referenced him as an "angel of the LORD".

I was wondering whether this also happened with Hagar as the way the angel is communicating to her sounds a lot like Jesus here ?

Christophany
Definition:
Christophany refers to the pre-incarnate appearances of Jesus Christ in the Old Testament. These manifestations are considered to be temporary and visible appearances of the Son of God before His incarnation as Jesus of Nazareth. Christophanies are distinct from theophanies, which are appearances of God in a more general sense, as they specifically involve the second person of the Trinity.

Thanks !!

LOL that i was trying to remember the terminology for that but it kept slipping my mind

I think it was a pre incarnate appearance of Jesus as the Angel of the Lord with Hagar. I can't remember why exactly, but I'm going to come back to this because something is at the back of my memory bugging me but I can't put my finger on it.
I think it might be him based on him saying this :

" 10Then the angel added, “I will greatly multiply your offspring so that they will be too numerous to count.”

By him saying "I will greatly multiply your offspring" is what makes me think it's Jesus for only he could create or allow for a created being and not a normal angel ?

Margery, ask the Holy Spirit to bring it to your remembrance, I do and it was only a day or two ago that he did just that for me.
