Trump to ‘defend the rights of Christians,’ announces new faith initiative led by controversial televangelist

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday a series of sweeping faith-based initiatives, including a new presidential commission on religious liberty and an executive order targeting perceived anti-Christian bias. Speaking at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., Trump also said he would reestablish a White House faith office led by Paula White, a controversial celebrity televangelist and his longtime spiritual adviser.

“It was faith that led the pilgrims to cross an ocean and settle this majestic continent, and we’re going to keep it majestic,” Trump said in his remarks. “Here in America, we are, once again, a nation that believes in ourselves. We believe in our destiny and trust in the providence of Almighty God.”

Trump said the new task force – headed by Attorney General Pam Bondi – would “immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government” and “fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society, and to move heaven and earth to defend the rights of Christians and religious believers nationwide.”

Trump already under pressure to ‘fire’ his pick to lead White House Faith Office
President Donald Trump is facing pressure to “fire” pastor Paula White, his controversial pick to lead the new White House Faith Office, just one day after announcing her appointment.

Scores of pastors, priests, and Christians of all denominations reacted harshly to Trump’s pick on X after it was announced. Trump faced similar criticism when he picked White to be involved in his 2016 campaign and first presidential administration.

“I’m hearing from a credible source that President Trump is well aware that Paula White has been trending all day on X and that the response to him appointing her the head of the White House Faith Office is receiving a TON of negative backlash,” former Bay Area sports broadcaster Jon Root posted.

Many also point to the fact that White told the Jerusalem Post that Christians should not try to convert Jews but instead learn from them. Others claim that White denies the Trinity, a core doctrine of Christianity. While she has made statements that many perceive as undermining the doctrine of the trinity, White called allegations that she denies the trinity “patently false.”

The charismatic Christian also praised a South Korean cult leader known as “Mrs. Moon” or “True Mother” as “a jewel from God” who does “great work as a spiritual leader” in 2021.

Yep, agree with you brothers and sisters on this one. I assume his heart is in the right place but I also assume that those involved and how things tend to go, we will see a mess come from this.....and definitely so after the rabid ragers get back in control and seek their retribution.

I am praying that until after the Rapture the rabid ragers will not be getting back into power.

Jan Markell might have been a good choice if President Trump thought he needed to appoint a woman for some reason.

Except then what would have happened to Olive Tree Ministries?

Too bad Jerry Falwell, Hal Lindsey, Tim LaHaye, etc. are already at home with Jesus <3

EDITED TO ADD: Billy Graham . . . most everyone, Christians and non-Christians, had respect for him.
I wonder if Franklin . . . he'd have to put all his dirty laundry out there and use it as part of his public testimony, though.
