Trump says US is sending people to Moscow ‘right now’ as he warns Putin of ‘very bad’ punishment if he rejects ceasefire

PRESIDENT Trump said the US is sending people to Moscow "right now" as he warns mad Russian leader Vladimir Putin of a "very bad" punishment if he rejects the 30-day ceasefire.

The Republican and Zelensky have both agreed on the long-awaited Ukraine truce, cornering the Russian tyrant to act soon.

Trump has threatened Russia with "devastating" trade and economic pressure from the US if Putin doesn't agree to the ceasefire.

The President made the chilling warning as he spoke of administration efforts to end the bloody war in Ukraine in the Oval Office with Irish prime minister Micheal Martin.

Vladimir Putin Responds to Ceasefire Deal

In his first public remarks on the proposed 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow supports the idea but insists on receiving its own security guarantees, according to a report from ABC News.

Putin raised questions regarding a 30-day ceasefire during a press briefing in Moscow on Thursday, as President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff landed in the city to discuss the proposal.

"It seems to me, it would be very good for the Ukrainian side to reach a truce for at least 30 days. And we are for it. But there is a nuance," Putin said, highlighting concerns regarding Russia's Kursk region, where Ukrainian forces pushed into last year in a surprise offensive but in recent weeks have seen Russian forces retake significant ground.

"If we stop the hostilities for 30 days, what does it mean? Does it mean that everyone who is there will leave without a fight?" Putin said. "Or the Ukrainian leadership will give them an order to lay down their arms and just surrender? How will it be? It is not clear."

Putin said he also wants guarantees that during a 30-day ceasefire, Ukraine will not regroup, and he wondered who would determine if there were any violations of a ceasefire.

"These are all issues that require careful investigation from both sides," he said.

Putin suggested Russia should talk with Trump to discuss his concerns, while adding, "But the idea itself is to end this conflict with peaceful means. We support it."

Trump 'hopes' Putin agrees to ceasefire as Moscow signals no truce yet

President Donald Trump on Thursday said he is holding out "hope" that Russia will agree to a ceasefire with Ukraine as the first step to ending the brutal three-year-long war.

"We know where we are with Ukraine," he told reporters while speaking from the Oval Office alongside NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.

"Hopefully they’ll do the right thing," he added in reference to Russia.

Trump’s comments came just moments after Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an address in Moscow in which he thanked Trump for his ceasefire efforts, noting he agreed with them in "principle" but signaled he was not agreeing to the 30-day proposal as it stands now.

Trump said he was aware of Putin’s comments at the time of the Oval Office press conference and classified the Russian leader's comments as "promising" but "incomplete."

unfortunately Putin has survived sanctions, tariffs aren't going to faze him and he's actually enjoying the disruption between America, Ukraine and the trade war stuff. Easier for Putin to takeover Ukraine without wasting tactical nukes.

The only thing that would give Putin pause right now is a hot war with NATO and full US support. Trump gave Putin what Putin wanted by Trump removing support from Ukraine's Zelensky.

Not sure what Trump has in mind, although I'm sure it will have that shock and awe factor that Trump employs. 🍿

I guess a lot depends on how the discussions between Mark Rutte and Donald Trump went at the White House Thursday.
YES! The closer and warmer things appear between Rutte and Trump the better - that would put the wind up Putin the best right now, which would translate to Putin seeing NATO as a real threat to still keep in mind!
