Trump claims Houthis 'don't want to fight' and says US will stop bombing campaign

TCC

Well-known

President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced the U.S. will stop its bombing campaign against the Houthis in Yemen after the terrorist group told him they "don't want to fight."

"They just don't want to fight," Trump told reporters from the Oval Office. "They just don't want to, and we will honor that. We will stop the bombings."

Trump said the bombings on Houthi targets will stop "effectively immediately."

From what I have gathered by reports on this agreement between the Houthis and the US is basically between the Houthis and the US.
Meaning the Houthis agree to Stop bombing US military ships in the region.
"They don't want to fight" the US
The Houthis have Not specifically agreed to stop attacking Israel.
I don't see this agreement doing much to end the aggression that Iran is behind.
Even After the agreement announcement was made the Houthis Still launched missiles into Israel territory.

Netanyahu in first statement after US decision to reach ceasefire with Houthis: Israel will defend itself on its own. If the Americans join in - its good as well.

US-Houthi ceasefire deal does not include Israel, says Houthi spokesperson

A ceasefire deal between the Houthis and the US does not include sparing Israel, the group said on Wednesday, suggesting its shipping attacks that have disrupted global trade and challenged world powers will not come to a complete halt.

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday the US would stop bombing the Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen, saying that the group had agreed to stop attacking US ships.

Thanks for the clarification Rose. At first i was scratching my head wondering what pastor was thinking he might be missing. So thanks for the context fill in. For me, posting something like this is according to a scenario in general of how the Trump admin operates. I have seen themes like: America is for peace while it bombs Yemen. Using that as a way of suggesting that desire for peace is fake and hypocritical. But I understand peace through strength means sometimes you will have to fight to have peace. And so like this is an example of that. If that makes sense? Blessings.

Houthis Confirm Deal with Trump to ‘Pause’ Attacks

The Houthi insurgents of Yemen confirmed on Wednesday they have reached an agreement with the United States to “pause” their attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, in exchange for a pause in U.S. airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen.

Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Salam hastened to add that the ceasefire with America has “no connection with our stance on supporting Gaza.”

“The support of the Yemeni nation for Gaza will expand in a better way,” he added.
