Trump announces immediate retaliation against Colombia after socialist president turns back US deportation flights

President Trump vowed to launch a trade war with Colombia and impose an “emergency 25% tariff” on Sunday after the South American country turned back two US military deportation flights.

“I was just informed that two repatriation flights from the United States, with a large number of Illegal Criminals, were not allowed to land in Colombia,” Trump wrote Sunday.

“This order was given by Colombia’s Socialist President Gustavo Petro, who is already very unpopular amongst his people,” he said, adding that Petro’s decision has “jeopardized the National Security and Public Safety of the United States.”

In response, Trump said he would enact the “emergency 25% tariffs on all goods coming into the United States” — and claimed he’d raise it to 50% in a week.

He also called for a travel ban, visa revocations on Colombian government officials, visa sanctions on party members and government supporters, enhanced customs and border protection inspections of any Colombian national and banking and financial sanctions.

Everything sounds good in his plan of action. Should give a dose of reality to the socialist running Columbia (no doubt with ties to the drug lords). Extra attention at the border
enhanced customs and border protection inspections of any Colombian national and banking and financial sanctions.
should get their attention immediately (and reduce the drugs coming in)

Colombia’s Petro Backs Down: Sending Personal Plane to Pick Up Migrants After Trump Announced Sanctions

The Colombian president’s backpedaling came after President Donald Trump announced he would impose numerous sanctions—including “emergency 25% tariffs”—on Colombia in response to Petro’s reversal of his promise to accept deportation flights.

On Sunday, Petro — who initially said he would accept deportation flights from the U.S. but then refused to receive two flights containing a total of 160 deportable migrants — suggested he changed his mind about accepting the flights because the U.S. treats “Colombian migrants as criminals.”

Petro then demanded the United States “establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them.”

From the way the story is written, I found it hard to tell whether the Colombian president is going to accept such flights in the future, or is making demands of the United States before he does.

Colombia to take back its deported citizens after Trump threatens tariffs, visa restrictions

Shortly after Mr. Trump made the tariff threat Sunday, Colombian President Gustavo Petro offered to send a presidential plane to the U.S. to pick up the deported Colombians, while insisting that his government still wanted to ensure a “dignified” process for deporting illegal immigrants.

In a statement later Sunday, Mr. Petro offered up his presidential plane to bring the deportees from the U.S. to Colombia, saying this would be preferable to having them sent to Colombia like criminals.

“The measure responds to the government’s commitment to guarantee dignified conditions,” the president said in a statement.

Earlier Sunday, Mr. Petro said in the post announcing the denial of the planes that “the US cannot treat Colombian migrants as criminals.”

“The United States must establish a protocol for the dignified treatment of migrants before we receive them,” he said, adding in another post that “a migrant is not a criminal and must be treated with the dignity that a human being deserves.”

One of the X posts Mr. Petro made included a news video of U.S. deportations to Brazil in which the illegal immigrants were walking on a tarmac with restraints on their hands and feet.

“That’s why I turned back the US military planes that were carrying Colombian migrants,” he wrote. “I cannot allow migrants to remain in a country that does not want them; but if that country sends them back, it must be with dignity and respect for them and for our country. We will receive our fellow citizens on civilian planes, without treating them like criminals. Colombia is respected.”

These criminals have been treated better in this country than even some of our own citizens.
The planes were even going to land instead of a forced static line jump from 3500', so Trump should still slap a being stupid tariff on this bozo.

Should have been a night-time, 600-foot, all-weather-all-conditions, static-line jump :tap:
3500-foot static line jump is nice and easy :)

FWIW, I hope President Trump hasn't forgotten about the two (allegedly uninhabited) territories claimed by the U.S., which are administered by Colombia :tap:

Yup! Given free debit cards that are "rechargable", meaning more money can be added when what's on the debit cards run out of money.
Many are given lodging at tax payer expense and any of those illegals can walk into a transitional center, welfare office, and apply for aid and no ID no problem, no residence no problem no work history no problem, they do get taken care of much better than our own citizens
