They call me the Candy Lady

We have a pretty huge Spanish culture here. We are actually the most diverse city in the US.

So I take a couple different angles. I can get Spanish material for the same cost as English, and I do. I have a case of about 40 whole Bibles and New Testaments coming Thursday and I'll probably hand it all out in one day. Recipients wre CRAZY for Spanish. The adults usually request Spanish for themselves and English for the kids.

I also carry Arabic outreach materials. A big community here.

Last but not least World Missionary Press has 100% Bible verses Scripture booklets (about 300 Bible verses per booklet) in hundreds of languages. I carry 8 languages at all times.

I also ask.the recipient what version they would prefer, and always try to carry a few versions.

I have been battling a brutal migraine so bad I've been carrying around something I could get sick in. About 20 minutes ago it went away as it someone had flipped a switch.

Whoever was praying PLEASE keep it up!

I had a stranger than fiction encounter today.

I walk about half a mile to the bus stop. I always leave early.

There was an older, thin, man with an unfortunate dental situation waiting on the other side of the street almost at the bus stop. He flagged me down and asked what I had for my ministry (I had 2 tote bags full of outreach). I went over and we chatted a minute. I could tell he was a believer I think you can sense the Holy Spirit in someone.

He said a couple of things that stuck with me.
*. God is pleased
*. I am a light and I need to keep that up
*. Grown men are afraid to do this.

I asked if I could hug him, and did. I asked if he would pray for me and the recipients and he did right there and then. Said again I am a light, what I do is "very important" "keep it up".

I missed the first bus but it didn't matter. He put a $20 in my bag, said "ministry isn't free you have expenses", I got another hug and went off to work.

I can't believe it myself. 😭😭😭😭🕯️

He was in a bad place. I usually get tracts for free (Thank You, Paul!) but had purchased the "You Are Special" tracts. I gave him one of those and a handwritten note saying I was praying for him daily, signed.

Recipients have told me they really value the notes. The bag (a regular zip top sandwich size) had a couple of handfuls of candy as well.

I haven't had a burden like that since the hurricane hit Jamaica. I was up all night praying..

The Holy Spirit showed me, and my own experience with depression informs me how bad it can be. I almost always appeared totally functional and happy even in some very dark times.

Prayers are working. It's been a long day so I might repeat myself.

I encountered a church today. They gave me a to go container of hot and delicious gumbo, prayed over me.

Went to work. Boss asked me to stay late and offered a ride (I can't get home on the bus after 10:30). She was extremely happy when she dropped me off.

I am tired!

I have learned to be very careful what I share.

I will say God has called me to be a sort of first responder on the scene of unspeakable tragedy, a bystander and an actor in sharing the Gospel.

I had a lot of recipients today. Please pray for them. I plan to do a Handout as well later.

I've been up for 18 hours and I need some sleep first, pray, seek God's will.
