The Hellenization (Greek dominance of conquered nations)of a large part of theworld particularly Judea and Asia was very good for translating the New Testament because the Greek language is so articulate and precise, example, in the Greek there are 5 words to define "love" and you can search to learn the different. For the English word "sin" there are 7 Greek words used.

Seven words the Greek had for "sin".

Ronnie, there are actually eight words for love in Greek. Four are the most common-- eros (romantic, passionate love), philia (affectionate love), agape (selfless, universal love), and storge (love within family.) The others are mania (obsessive love), ludus (playful love), pragma (enduring love), and philautia (self love).

Jimmy Swaggart bought an Amplified in the second half of the 1970's. I recall hearning a lot about it from WOK ministers who quoted it.

Reverend Swaggart didn't care for it so Donnie tryed to sell it us employees, guess who bought it for $17.

I bought The Complete Works of Flavius Josephus (paper back) from an employee of Jimmy Swaggart ministries for 10 bucks.

Josephus was an Jewish Historian, his mother was a Jew, his father a Roman. I think that book which is a compilation of books is great.
