Socialist/communist elected mayor of New York (why?)

It's possible under some circumstances.
Over a quarter of a Century ago, my former husband and I seriously considered it, but decided against it because we had to assume we wouldn't be allowed to work, and the probable at-least-once-a-year trip to the U.S., potentially on short notice (last minute air fare is extremely expensive).
After visiting in 2018, I looked into it and found that you either have to be a wealthy business investor or married to an Isrealite. We are neither. On the other hand, Christians are persecuted there and so it would definitely be a downgrade from living in the USA. Maybe that would be a blessing to weed out fake "christians".

NEW YORK, NY — In his first official act as mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani moved the mayor's office under a children's hospital.

The mayor's office had been located at New York City Hall since 1812, but Mamdani was determined to relocate it when he learned it wasn't strategically positioned behind human shields. "This place doesn't meet our needs for a headquarters," he said, seemingly unaware that it was not American practice to line the walls with sick children.

Voters were reportedly shocked to learn Mamdani had moved his office beneath a children's hospital, but were assured this was "perfectly normal" and "nothing to worry about."
I knew it was fake pretend news. But I must admit, for a second while ascertaining the source, I did scratch my head wondering if NY got so footsy-free comfy that their hats were off to making terror hidden locations great again. A momentary mental burp. But it did exist for a sliver, I must admit.

Recently in coming across what I have been seeing (perhaps its even worse in Europe) is truly chilling. There was a series that came out I think on Netflix quite a while back called The Man in the High Castle. It was about what America would look life if the Nazi's won WW2. It kind of feels like waking up to a country like that. Only if America secretly transformed into Babylon the Great over night. Like all of a sudden, "Wow, who are these people." But even sadder, "They actually have souls and yet don't see." :(

The easiest way for us (then) would have been by my former husband having significant Jewish heritage, with proof, so he would have been automatic, and then me as his wife. Neither of us would have had any problem meeting the income, medical insurance, and security requirements of the time.

There were and are some other ways. One is having performed some (significant) service for Israel. Not automatic, and one has to have the opportunity to do so in the first place. Another is having critical skills with specific experience, which Israel needs, also not automatic. For either of these, there are a LOT of hoops to jump through, and approval is at high level of government. These are both separate from the usual work visa that one can apply for after obtaining employment, the employer submitting paperwork, and getting a sponsor. Work visas are usually short term (1-3 years), so one is more like a guest worker, and is at the whim/mercy of the employer, sponsor, and government for renewal.

It's harder now for non-Jewish people, and they're working on tightening it up some more in the near future.

FWIW, I didn't experience any persecution in Israel, but that may have been due to my status as active military and being part of the Multinational Forces and Observers (MFO). However, when I was there, then when we were making the decision close to retirement, and now, Jewish people, particularly those, who practice the faith, have priority in everything: work, education, housing, etc. Importing Christian literature/materials is "interesting," although possession is not illegal, and there are Christian churches, which one can freely attend. There's a Christian Information Center in the Old City Welcome Run by the Franciscan Catholic order, it provides information about sites, shrines, tour guides, various Christian churches, including Baptist, Baptist Church

It's almost funny to think about the reactions from the violently liberal women who would suddenly find themselves under sharia. Almost.
It is funny. I've seen up-close-and-personal the shock of Western women when they encounter sharia in real life in a foreign country and actually have to deal with it in real life, rather than just learning about it in the abstract in a classroom or book. Even when they're prepared with the appropriate clothing, etc. before arrival.

If I'm still here when sharia starts getting enforced, I simply won't. I know that'll cost me my life, but this old Soldier just won't do it. I can't do it in good conscience because it goes against everything in the U.S. Constitution, which I swore to support and defend. It also goes against the freedom in Christ in the Bible, and knowing the demonic origins of islam and sharia.
Unless, of course, God tells me otherwise, as in obeying civil authorities.

I pray God takes us home before that happens for the sake of me and my children. I know this is extreme and taboo. It’s sadly something I have seriously thought about and have talked about with my previous pastor’s wife. Taking myself and my children out before falling into the hands of Muslim men seems like the best option. I pray it never comes to that.

I know a Christian couple who absolutely adored Israel and the Jews, moved there and came back after two years. They haven’t felt the same about Israel, and Israelis, since. They aren’t replacement theology but the hostility to the gospel and to Christians there really got to them. They are soured. Its sad. This was 20 years ago, I think it’s better there now (?)

Paul had problems preaching the gospel to the Jews, too. Sometimes people can go into a situation expecting a lot of eyes to be opened. And they get a rude awakening.

But scripture is plain.: Paul cried over the Jews. He was distraught over their hostility and rejection to the gospel.

They are so rebellious to Jesus that that He's had to create a time of Jacob's Trouble to get them to listen.

We went to visit the Western Wall as a tour group. One lady was wearing a cross and the Jewish men were shrieking at her. It was quite shocking to see their sheer hatred at Christians. She was just standing around and looking, minding her own business.

Likely Orthodox Jewish men, or at least the Conservative end of Conservative.

If the Jewish people don't call it blasphemy, they have to accept Jesus as God and worship Him.
Same as what happened with the Pharisees and Jesus in the Temple. Jesus either was or was not God. If Jesus was God, they had fall down and worship Him. If Jesus was not God, He had to be put to death for blasphemy. The Jewish people did not have authority for the death penalty under Roman rule, so they had to take/have someone take Jesus to the Roman Authorities to be put to death.

Israel isn't like the U.S., where "everything goes." The Wailing Wall and a few other places are considered sacred Jewish sites, beyond just having historical significance, so Jewish people are extra sensitive/more apt to react to what they consider evil being present on those sites.

I think strong feelings against middle-eastern elected officials, many being Muslim, is on the wane. They are sitting in political positions in towns, cities, and states all over the country. So, they may not have any qualms.....???

They tested the waters a couple of times here, but not yet successful, even on a limited scale in a limited area.
Individual families, that's another story, but in the U.S., First Amendment allows individuals to practice whatever religion.

Remember, EVERY ethnic Jew today is a descendant of those Jews who rejected and crucified Christ. Every one. Those who accepted Christ following His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension eventually (and sadly) were lost to the Jewish culture, becoming Christians and being forced to develop an entirely new culture. So every Jew today is bearing the curse placed upon them by their forefathers. When Pontius Pilate saw the Jews were determined that Jesus be crucified, he called for water to wash his hands. He then turned to the crowd and said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. You bear the responsibility.” And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” (Matthew 27:25). Consequently, this curse remains on the descendants of all of those Jews who continued to reject not only Christ after His resurrection but persecute and cast out those Jews who repented and followed Him. This is why it is so hard to reach them, even today. But praise God for those few who truly seek Him, listening to the Holy Spirit and then accepting Christ. We need to pray for more to humble themselves in the same way.

That is one way I think of Amir. A Jew that accepted Jesus and was rejected by his family. His testimony is interesting in one of the earlier books he wrote. Fighting in the IDF and then coming to Faith in Jesus Christ.

I remember a young man - who had accepted Jesus as his messiah - who came to speak at our church. He was describing the treatment he received from his family after his decision. They held an actual funeral for him, and never spoke to him again. He was dead to them. So very sad. There is another rabbi that became a messianic rabbi and his grandmother would not speak to him for years. But she speaks to him now...........so, I'm wondering if he has managed to get through to his family........not sure.
