Shooting on Ft. Stuart Army Base

3Nails4Given

Less-Known
Thankfully, no fatalities, and 3 of the victims have been treated at the hospital and released.

He must of had some disagreement from within his command for him to snap and shoot his fellow soldiers. Its been reported he managed to sneak his own personal weapon on to the base, and it was not his military issued weapon.

Hero’s have emerged as the one soldier tackled him, while a few others jumped on top and held him down, preventing more people from being shot.

He had recently been arrested for DUI in Hinesville and was on bond for that. Allegedly his command didn’t know. There is speculation some of those attacked where going to turn him in.

Speculation was he would be reduced in rank and discharged less than honorable if guilty of dui.

Different areas have different rules for what civilian police will turn over to the local base legal section. It’s not that unusual a command would not know he was arrested. However, a conviction would definitely be passed on to the local base.

I know a few soldiers who have served with the 3rd ID at Ft. Stewart. I know a couple of former Hinesville police officers. When an active duty soldier is arrested for DUI in Hinesville, they contact the base and someone from the base has to pick them up.

Thankful there were no fatalities, and others held him down from harming others. :amen:

New details have emerged in this case. The shooter was in a homosexual relationship with one of the soldiers he shot and had recently listed him as his husband. He stands charged with attempted murder 5 counts. He is going to be tried in a Military Court in Charleston.

I believe he will be spending a long time in Leavenworth. There may be other court martial proceedings coming for the alleged husband.

The more I learn the sicker I feel.
