Security Council set to meet over deadly Rafah strike

(AFP) – The UN Security Council was set to convene an emergency meeting Tuesday over an Israeli strike that killed dozens in a displaced persons camp in Rafah, as three European countries were slated to formally recognise a Palestinian state.

AFP journalists on the ground early Tuesday reported fresh Israeli strikes overnight in the southern Gaza border city, where an Israeli attack targeting two senior Hamas members on Sunday night sparked a fire that ripped through a displacement centre, killing 45, according to Gaza health officials.

The attack prompted a wave of international condemnation, with Palestinians and many Arab countries calling it a "massacre". Israel said it was looking into the "tragic accident".....

IDF says hidden store of terror munitions may have caused deadly Rafah blaze
Military probing if stockpile of weapons, other combustibles, caused secondary blasts leading to dozens of deaths, insists airstrike was not in designated Gaza safe zone
The Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday that a hidden store of weapons may have been the actual cause of a deadly blaze in southern Gaza’s Rafah, and that an airstrike that targeted an adjacent area had used small munitions that would not ignite such a fire on their own

The military suspects that the munitions or some other combustible substance it was unaware of caused a secondary explosion and a fire to spread in a complex housing displaced Gazans in Rafah, killing dozens of Palestinian civilians, following an airstrike targeting two top Hamas terrorists in the area.

Israel seeks to block UNSC resolution to end Gaza war, Rafah op.

Israel sought to block a United Nations Security Council resolution against its military operation to eliminate Hamas in Rafah, as the international community continued to express its outrage over a Sunday night IDF strike in which 45 Palestinians were killed.

The European Union’s foreign ministers that met in Brussels on Monday agreed to reexamine its association agreement with Israel in light of humanitarian issues relating to Gaza. The agreement is a document that dictates the terms of the EU-Israel relationship.

The EU plans to hold a meeting of the EU-Israel Association Council but has not set a date for that meeting.

In an address to his parliament Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris on Tuesday called on the EU to use the association agreement as a pressure lever to help end the Gaza war....

This no doubt is a demonic inspired attack on Israel.
I don't recall such language coming from World Leaders over the deaths of civilians that war causes involving other nations like is being spotlighted on Israel.

I have yet to hear international condemnation for the atrocities Hamas did decapitating babies and burning babies in ovens and video taping it, and where's the Demand to release the hostages and to Stop attacking Israeli civilian communities?

Mimran also noted two ongoing conflict-induced famines in Yemen and Ethiopia that have not gained the attention of the ICJ, despite the large number of dead due to starvation and malnutrition.

Saudi Arabia, a signatory to the Genocide Convention under which South Africa has taken Israel to the ICJ, has since 2015 imposed a blockade on Yemen that has been a driving factor in a severe famine in the country — where 131,000 people have died from lack of food, health services and infrastructure, according to the UN. In April this year, UNICEF said that 2.7 million children were suffering from acute malnutrition in Yemen.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian government has been accused of deliberately withholding food aid from the Tigray region of the country during a two-year civil war that broke out in 2020, with as many as 200,000 people dying during that time of starvation. Ethiopia is also signatory to the Genocide Convention.

“You see here the hypocrisy of an international legal system that sides with a terror group that vows to kill Israelis, provides fuel and moral support to hate and antisemitism, and exerts legal and diplomatic pressure on Israel, which is prevented from being allowed to defend its citizens and exercise the inherent right of self defense, a sovereign right that forms the basis of statehood and is a pillar of international law,” said Mimran.

Hagari also presented satellite imagery from the site, saying the IDF “targeted a closed structure away from the tent area. There are no tents in the immediate vicinity.”

“Contrary to reports, we conducted the strike outside the area that we designated as a humanitarian area and called civilians to evacuate to. Our strike was over a kilometer and a half away from the al-Mawasi humanitarian area,” he noted, contradicting reports by the Palestinian Authority and some NGOs that the IAF had struck within al-Mawasi.

Hagari also denied reports that the IAF used a 2,000-pound bomb.
“The strike was conducted using two munitions with small warheads, suited for this targeted strike. We are talking about munitions with 17 kilograms (35 lbs) of explosive material,” Hagari explained, stating that “this is the smallest munitions that our jets can use.”

Based on history --from 1948 until the present-- this is exactly what you would expect from the Israelis and their IAF. And the death-dealing series of explosions in civilian areas is exactly what you would expect from Hamas and their Islamic terrorist ilk.

Exactly. The IDF are expected to wear kid gloves while these terrorists lie, hide behind and kill civilians.
