I know tis article is over a year old, but I thought it might be of interest, given recent discussions

Russian Combat Unit Using Horses to Covertly Supply Troops

A Russian combat unit deployed from Russia’s autonomous republic of Bashkiria to fight in Ukraine is using two horses to transport weapons and equipment to inaccessible front-line positions.

by Kyiv Post | September 7, 2023, 1:31 pm

"A long article published in the Moscow-sponsored news agency publication Bashkirinform, profiles how the members of a mobilized combat unit from Bashkiria are utilizing their civilian skills to carry out their military tasks. One of the more surprising details the article highlights is how the unit is using horses to support its operations."

""Horses move across broken ground better than any vehicle, and unlike trucks and quad cycles do not attract the attention of drones,” the regimental commander of the Bashkir troops is quoted as saying.
Another officer, identified by his callsign “Bashkir” said that “Horses are particularly effective in delivering supplies to troops in the early morning hours, and the hardy, intelligent Bashkir breed can carry up to a 200 kilogram. load to troops on the front-line.”"

7 modern armies that still ride animals into battle

And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
Ezekiel 38:4, KJV

And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
Ezekiel 38:15, KJV

3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4 In that day, saith the Lord, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
Zechariah 12:3-4, KJV

I've always put my thoughts on horses and the 7 year trib, etc. in the framing of very challenging and limited tech capabilities. Would that be due to the devastation of war or possibly EMPs or other factors? Who knows? But God's Word says horses and either horses is literal and there will be horses or it's metaphoric and there will be moving vehicles. His prophecies NEVER fail so we are going to see fulfillment to an absolute.

Horses are still the most efficient way to move men, materiel, and munitions in some terrain and circumstances. They can go where vehicles and bicycles cannot. Some horses are awesome for carrying or dragging, and others are fearsome in combat and/or pacifying/controlling the conquered/masses. Donkeys and mules have their uses, but the Scriptures say horses, not donkeys or mules. Unless there's something in the Hebrew and/or Greek I don't know (I'm not a scholar of either).

Here's another reference to horses, which I believe is literal:

14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
17 And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.
18 And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.
19 And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.
20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
Revelation 14:14-20, KJV

20 And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
Revelation 14:20, KJV

Based on the reference to 1600 furlongs and blood up to the horses' bridles in Revelation 14:20, I did some math:

A furlong is 0.125 miles. 1600 furlongs x 0.125 = 200 miles. 200 x 5280 feet per mile = 1,056,000 feet
The average height riding horse is around about 15 hands (60 inches, or 5 feet) at the withers, which are significantly lower than the horse's head and bridle.
Draft horses, such as Clydesdales and Percherons, are taller.

A cylinder with a radius of 1,056,00 feet and a height of 5 feet has a volume of 17,516,515,326,767.5 cubic feet

17,516,515,326,767.5 cubic feet = 524,130,235,573,741.5 liquid quarts

The average adult male, weighing about 200 pounds, has approximately 6 quarts of blood.
Women have less, around 4 quarts, and horses have a lot more.

Using male content of 6 quarts of blood per Soldier:
524,130,235,573,741 quarts of blood on the ground / 6 = 87,355,039,262,290 dead Soldiers.

That's a LOT of dead Soldiers, and more than the number of people alive today

OR . . . maybe this is the blood of all the people throughout history, who were, are, and will be at the time this prophecy is fulfilled, enemies of Israel.

or maybe I did the math wrong

The numbers are conservative (depth of blood to withers instead of to bridles), but don't take into account buildings, trees, vehicles,, etc. taking up some (likely a significant amount) of that volume, which would lead to a much smaller number of soldiers being killed.

It is also possible (very probable) that the 200 miles from the old city of Jerusalem isn't in all directions, especially since it's only 33 miles from the old City of Jerusalem to the Mediterranean Sea.

If one uses a donut-shaped cylinder using the area of Jerusalem as the hole in the middle, the numbers get a LOT bigger.

I watched a video the other day where the colored horses of Zechariah were mentioned as perhaps being the horses of the army (us) that comes back with Christ at the battle of Armageddon and we fight with Him while on our horses. Didn't process it much further at the time but just recalled it tonight.
