Rescuers search for survivors after deadly Houthi attack on cargo ship in the Red Sea

The US embassy in Yemen accused Houthi rebels of kidnapping members of a Greek-owned ship after the terrorist group attacked the vessel in the Red Sea, killing four people.

The Liberian-flagged Eternity C cargo ship came under assault by sea drones on Monday and Tuesday, with its crew of 20 jumping into the water and spending more than 24 hours afloat before help arrived.

Only six crew members have been saved so far as the desperate search for the survivors continues, with the US embassy in Yemen accusing the Iran-backed rebel group of taking hostages.

The European Union’s Operation Aspides reported the details, noting that one of the survivors who was rescued lost his leg in the attacks. Another crew member was also reported injured.

The State Department condemned the assault on the ship, warning that the US will take the appropriate action if violence continues along the Red Sea.

“These attacks demonstrate the ongoing threat that Iran-backed Houthi rebels pose to freedom of navigation and to regional economic and maritime security,” State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said.

Sending exactly the wrong message to ALL the Islamic terrorists and the nations around the world who want to challenge the USA. You get at least one attack "free" just like Iran was able to shoot at the US base in Qatar and got praised because they let the Americans know in advance.

Those service members are blessed - they had advance warning to get out of harms way.

But these men didn't! George used to follow some YouTube accounts of merchant seamen, their lives aboard ship. Hard working people often from places like the Philippines where lower wages and poor safety conditions are acceptable.

This is basically saying the lives of these seamen, and the shipping company they served do not count. They are a one off, a freeby so that Yemen can have yet another kill statistic without consequences.

Here's hoping Israel at least introduces them to another round of consequences.

Their lives matter! The shipping companies of the world are having a hard time right now and have been ever since Yemen closed much of the shipping from that sector with their constant barrage of attacks. Usually they don't hit Russian or Chinese shipping- gee wonder if that has anything to do with Iran telling Yemen not to hit their friends.

This is MURDER!
